Plans and implements program activities and special events.Formulates program/s policies and procedures and evaluates the program/s in consultation with the supervisor.Oversees the day-to-day operation of the program/s by ensuring that the necessary facilities and equipment are in place, program guidelines and policies are adhered to, and program standards and licensing requirements are met.Provides direct support services as assigned by Program Manager.Supervises program/s staff by performing duties such as assigning work, providing feedback on performance, and conducting performance evaluations.Participates in the recruitment and selection of program staff by performing duties such as screening applicants, participating on interview panels, and making hiring recommendations.Schedules program staff in accordance with program staffing requirements.Orients, determines the need for and provides training to program staff, volunteers, and practicum students.Monitors and authorizes program/s expenditures and maintains financial records in accordance with established procedures. Prepares the program budget for submission and presentation to senior management and/or the Board of Directors.Promotes public awareness of and support for the program by performing duties such as producing promotional materials and attending community events.Liaises with community service providers and other professionals to coordinate service provision, facilitate referrals to the program, and represent the organization or program in external events.Maintains related records and statistics and produces reports as required.Travels to other program sites as deemed necessary.On-call availability as required.Performs other related duties as required.WORKING CONDITIONSDemonstrates initiative, independence and efficiencyFollows guidelines as outlined by the Connective Support Society Policies and ProceduresTransports self, staff, volunteers and others with a reliable vehicle throughout the areas including, remote locations and correctional facilities as neededWorks 40 hours per week with time apportioned through days, evenings and weekends as necessary to meet the program and client needsIs a member of CUPE Local 1936-11Receives benefits and works within the conditions as outlined in the collective agreement and the personnel policiesEXPERIENCE AND SKILLSA university Degree in a relevant branch of the Behavioural Sciences with an emphasis on Social Work, Sociology, and/or PsychologyDirect and extensive experience, a minimum of 3 years, in the delivery of supports and services in a correctional and/or community-based setting, and specifically relating to the criminal justice system or community social services sectorAbility to be comfortable interacting with persons who have been involved in the criminal justice system and/or are high risk/high needs/high profile individualsDemonstrated competence in identifying, approaching and securing both short- and long-term funding from appropriate sourcesExtensive knowledge of government and community justice servicesA strong ability to work with persons in crisis and persons who are disconnected from their support networkExtensive experience recruiting, screening, training, deploying and supervising volunteers and practicum studentsExperience in and comfort with public speakingKnowledge of word processingExcellent written, verbal, interviewing and assessment skillsExperience with supporting individuals with developmental disabilitiesExperience with facilitating, creating and/or running programsREQUIREMENTSAbility to successfully complete a Vulnerable Persons Criminal Records CheckAbility to successfully pass a reference checkCurrent Emergency First Aid CertificateValid Class 5 driver’s licensePersonal transportation that is in good repair, insured for business up to $1,000,000 for liability, and which can be used to transport clientsProof of vaccination for communicable diseases may be required as mandated by Government, Health Authority, and/or funder requirementsCOMPENSATIONAs Connective is a unionized environment, the starting wage is $33.77 to $38.77 per hour.
