Centre for Teaching & Learning (CTL) Advisor, Culturally Responsive Teaching (CL6) Education Central Office Halifax, Nova Scotia Centre for Teaching and Learning Term, Full-time Position: Commencing approximately January 12, 2026 and ending approximately July 31, 2026 Application deadline is 11:59PM, December 2, 2025 Competition No. 2526-303 Salary range: $93,500.95 to $110,001.11 annually This is a designated competition open to applicants who identify from the following communities: Aboriginal/ Indigenous Persons Members of the African Nova Scotian/ Black Canadian Communities Members of Racially Visible Communities Persons with Disabilities Persons of a Minority Sexual Orientation, gender identity and/or expression Qualifications Qualifications and Occupational Experience: The minimum educational qualification for this position is a Bachelor's Degree with a focus on education, psychology, educational psychology, social work, or other related field. You have successful completion of recognized, formal, advanced educational program(s) inclusive of courses specific to culturally responsive teaching. Or demonstrated self-directed learning and professional development, and/or occupational experience resulting in expertise in culturally responsive teaching. Or successful completion of professional development certificates/courses in culturally responsive teaching. You have a minimum of 5 years of recent and related occupational experience in applying teaching and learning principles related to culturally responsive practices in a post-secondary setting. You have direct experience leading teams or initiatives to support the implementation of culturally responsive teaching practices. Strong demonstrated experience championing equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility. Strong demonstrated facilitation and presentation skills. Experience conducting, analyzing, and disseminating research in education. Successful experience in managing strategic projects. Proficiency with technology in the delivery of educational materials and concepts. You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, E-mail, Video Conferencing and Learning Management Systems. You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience. You have experience in training/facilitation preparation, delivery and evaluation. Relevant Skills and Knowledge Experience in curriculum design and implementation. Proven leadership skills, with the ability to engage, inspire, motivate, and to provide coaching to develop others in the achievement of excellence. Proven skills in conflict resolution. Reputation for being a collaborative thought partner and leader, skilled at leveraging formal and informal networks within the organization. Ability to build cooperative partnerships, teams, and to lead integrated initiatives. Superb communication skills, excelling in both active listening and speaking effectively. Demonstrated expertise in innovative problem solving and strategic thinking. Self-directed planning and organizational ability. Responsibilities What you will be doing… NSCC's vision is to transform Nova Scotia one learner at a time. The CTL Advisor, Culturally Responsive Teaching plays a critical role in nurturing this experience by advancing culturally responsive practices in teaching and learning college wide. Working in close collaboration with Academic Equity and Quality, HREI, and Student Affairs, the CTL Advisor functions at both strategic and operational level and provides leadership in culturally responsive teaching to the CTL, School teams, and the College teaching community more broadly. The CTL Advisor, Culturally Responsive Teaching: Works closely with other CTL team members and key partners to play a lead role in helping the College articulate, strengthen, and support a commitment to culturally responsive practice in the context of teaching and learning. Collaboratively advances projects, initiatives, policy development and planning to support the College's commitment to culturally responsive and decolonized approaches in the delivery of Academic programming. Provides expert advice to the Director, CTL and other Academic leaders about necessary projects and initiatives to advance culturally responsive teaching within the work of the CTL and across Academic. Collaborates with all members of the CTL to advance culturally responsive approaches in services, supports, programming, and professional development provided within the Centre. Provides guidance to NSCC teams about how culturally responsive teaching can foster greater equity and belonging in teaching and learning experiences.
