Job Summary And Requirements This is for one (1) full-time permanent position working 75 hours bi-weekly. The Forest Management Branch is responsible for management of Yukon’s forest resources and is committed to responsible and sustainable development. The branch is continually working to improve processes and effectively align its resources with the needs of its clients. A strong emphasis on integrity, teamwork, and professional conduct contributes to building and maintaining relationships with various agencies within the Government of Yukon and other governments. As a Forester, you will play a key role in managing forest resources within a designated region of Yukon. This role is responsible for implementing higher-level forest resource management plans, developing timber harvest plans and access roads, and overseeing licensing and permitting processes. This role also involves engaging with First Nations, industry, stakeholders and the public; supporting wildfire risk reduction initiatives, managing contracts and supervising staff or contractors as needed. The Forester position may include functional supervision of development foresters, forest technicians, contractors, or support staff. Post‑secondary degree in Forest Resource Management or a related field Experience developing and/or applying forest harvesting plans, policies, standards, or guidelines Experience applying or administering resource legislation, preferably related to forestry Experience collaborating with First Nations, governments, stakeholders, and forest licensees Experience in project management and contract supervision will be an asset Professional Forester designation will be an asset Candidates who have a combination of education, training and experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.
