Reporting directly to the CTO, you’ll be accountable for the performance and growth of our engineers, ensuring we deliver high-quality, reliable, and innovative products at scale.As VP of Engineering, you’ll set the engineering vision, evolve our engineering practices, and ensure architectural decisions support scale and reliability — with your primary focus on organizational health, delivery excellence, and operational outcomes. You’ll partner closely with Product, Design, Data, and Operations to deliver solutions that meet real-world healthcare needs while fostering a culture of high standards, accountability, and continuous improvement.At Maple, engineering leadership is hands-on and product-aware. We expect our VP of Engineering to manage and scale teams, shape org design and guild structure, guide hiring strategies, and champion technical excellence across the company. You will also play a key role in advancing Maple’s position as an early AI adopter in healthcare technology — embedding AI-driven innovation into our products, processes, and culture to enhance patient care, provider experience, and operational efficiency.YOUR IMPACTLead and grow a high-performing engineering organization, including backend, frontend, mobile and QASet and communicate a clear engineering vision that aligns with Maple’s mission, product strategy, and long-term growth goalsDrive the adoption and integration of AI-powered tools and workflows to enhance developer productivity, product capabilities, and innovation velocityOwn delivery excellence, ensuring our teams consistently meet commitments on quality, performance, and timelinesBe a cross-functional partner and thought leader to support business priorities and help shape Maple’s futurePartner with Product leadership to shape the roadmap, balance trade-offs, and ensure we ship features that make a measurable impact on usersEstablish and evolve engineering processes, practices, and tools to improve productivity, maintainability, and scalabilityChampion technical quality, including code standards, architecture reviews, observability, and operational readinessDevelop and mentor engineering leaders, creating a strong pipeline of future managers and technical leadsShape the engineering organization’s design and guild structures to drive clarity, alignment, and shared ownership across teamsFoster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement that attracts and retains top engineering talentWHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKEIn your first 90 days, you’ll immerse yourself in Maple’s technical landscape and business priorities, building strong relationships cross-functionally, including with engineering, product, and executive peers. You’ll assess the current team structure, delivery practices, and platform health, identifying key strengths and areas for improvement. Early wins will include removing blockers for active projects, implementing clear decision-making frameworks, and setting a shared vision for engineering excellence.Over the next 12–18 months, you will have positioned our engineering organization for scale — embedding AI as a core driver of product innovation and engineering efficiency. This includes accelerating AI adoption across our stack, optimizing processes, developing future leaders, and implementing sustainable practices that enable long-term success. You’ll have driven measurable improvements in delivery speed, predictability, and quality while reducing technical debt. Engineering health metrics will be in place and will regularly inform strategy. You will also have established and operationalized Maple’s engineering operating system — delivering measurable improvements in stability, throughput, and developer experience. You’ll have built a culture where engineers take pride in their craft, product teams move quickly with confidence, and Maple is recognized as both a destination employer for top engineering talent.CANDIDATE PROFILE10+ years of experience in technology companies, ideally in high-growth SaaS, consumer products, or marketplaces2+ years as a senior leader, overseeing development teams of 20+ peopleExperience applying AI in products and/or development practices, and a strong ability to lead adoption of AI-powered tools and approachesDeep knowledge of backend and frontend systems, architecture, and modern development practicesStrong alignment with a product-led engineering culture — you care about user outcomes as much as code qualityDemonstrated ability to recruit, develop, and retain high-performing engineering talentExceptional communicator, able to bridge technical and business priorities and influence at the executive levelExperience managing distributed teams and optimizing for hybrid/remote environmentsCONSIDERED AN ASSETExperience in regulated industries or healthcareExperience with Laravel and ReactExperience leading QANOT CHECKING EVERY BOX?Please apply anyway.
