Job DescriptionThe RoleThe Production Manager must ensure that goods and services are produced efficiently; that they are of the right quality, quantity, and cost; and that they are produced on time, to the satisfaction of internal and external customers. The scope includes process and batch production using LEAN concepts to eliminate waste.Minimum Qualifications5+ years of directly related experienceProject management skillsLeadership and interpersonal skillsExperience with LEAN manufacturing and its conceptsExperience working with a unionized workforceAbility to handle responsibility and pressure of meeting deadlinesAuthorized to work in CanadaValid Canada Driver’s LicenseResponsibilitiesThe production manager is involved with planning, coordination, and control of industrial processes and responsible for human and material resources. The role involves pre-production planning and production control, working with planners, engineers, and supervisors.Typical work activities include:Communicate and implement change as directedLead a unionized environmentHealth and safety compliance in accordance with company policyProvide leadership by establishing clear expectations and demonstrating high standards of work practices and safety conscious behaviorEstablish, maintain, and promote high standards of customer serviceExperience working within policies and procedures and understanding of complianceEnsure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) procedures and practicesSupervision of all staff under direct or indirect controlAdministration duties to ensure daily KPI performance is achievedAll resources are utilized efficientlyTrain and monitor staff in SOP and safe work practices, including new employee inductions and toolbox talksContinuously monitor performance and activities of the manufacturing process through KPIs, focusing on capacity utilizationImplement and maintain Lean PrinciplesDevelop the production team towards becoming autonomous Kaizen teams, capable of maintaining and improving their process dailyStandardize and sustain the lean organization structure for production team through Tier Meetings, Team Boards, Standard Work, Visual Controls & Gemba WalkFollow the Standard Work for Production Manager and set an example for Supervisors to react quickly to alerts signaled by the team members and implement necessary improvements for KPI deviationsUse A3 Report and Problem-Solving tools to manage cost-savings and downtime reduction projects as part of plant’s overall strategy to improve value delivered to customersEnsure strategic projects identified are executed such as cellular layout, plant leveling, lead time reductionCompensation, Benefits and PerksCompetitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and career advancement opportunities.
