Employment Status: Successful Applicants for these 1.0 FTE positions will be Independent Contractors and will bill Fee for Service as per the current Manitoba physician’s manual (fees negotiated in the Master Agreement between the Minister of Health and Doctors Manitoba).

Description: Prairie Mountain Health (PMH) is currently recruiting Anesthesiologists to the city of Brandon. With more than 300 beds, the Regional Health Centre has 48 Medical Beds, 56 Surgical Beds, 9 Adult Intensive Care Beds, 20 Obstetrical Beds, 6 Operating Rooms, and 1 Minor Surgery Procedure Room. Our on-site diagnostic services include Lab and radiology, ultrasound, CT, MRI, and nuclear medicine. Successful applicants will provide anesthetic care throughout the surgical and obstetric programs, including supervision and teaching of students and residents. The successful applicants will also be required to participate in an on-call rota of approximately 1 in 4.

Successful Applicants will be team players, able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff, and management, and function well in a high volume environment with a commitment to provision of high quality patient and family-centered care.

With a population of just over 51,000, and a catchment population of over 180,000, Brandon is a thriving rural community with lifestyle opportunities for all ages. Located a short drive of 200 kms west from Winnipeg on the TransCanada highway, Brandon is large enough to supply all the retail, medical, educational, and cultural needs on a daily basis and small enough to avoid high costs of living and long commutes to work.

Brandon University has a significant reputation in music, general arts, and science programs. Assiniboine Community College provides a wide range of education options (which includes the Institute of Culinary Arts), and we also have Robertson College and the Manitoba Emergency Services College.

Cottage country/camping recreation is second to none with Riding Mountain National Park one hour North, the International Peace Gardens situated on the Manitoba/North Dakota border just over an hour to the south, and Spruce Woods provincial park 30 minutes to the West. Brandon’s enthusiastic volunteer base lands many provincial, national, and international events. With a population increase of 5%, it is a vibrant community in which to live, work, and play.

• Must hold Fellowship from the Royal College of Canada, or be Royal College eligible.
• Must hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba.
• Must provide proof of acceptable malpractice coverage prior to starting practice.
• Contingent on a 2-year Return of service agreement, PMH will provide $15,000 for relocation costs to the successful candidate.
• Responsible for arranging own benefits, if desired.

Compensation is derived from fee-for-service billing as per the current Manitoba physician’s manual negotiated in the Master Agreement between the Minister of Health and Doctors Manitoba.
