Manager, Model Validation, Global Risk Management - 1 year contract Join to apply for the Manager, Model Validation, Global Risk Management - 1 year contract role at Scotiabank Roynat Capital, a wholly owned subsidiary of Scotiabank, is a national lender and investor that provides innovative long‑term capital solutions for mid‑sized companies. The role is a 1‑year contract focused on supporting the credit model validation team to mitigate model risks under the model governance for the entire group. Responsibilities Support the model validation team to mitigate model risks. Discover and diagnose modeling related risks including input data, assumptions, concepts, methodology, processes, and implementation. Provide subject‑matter expertise on model strengths and weaknesses and recommend practical solutions. Validate models assigned by the model governance committee. Discuss validation results with model owners and governance team to gain consensus and create strategies to implement changes if needed. Utilize express mode validation for new model development, addressing legal and compliance issues, and quick model fixes. Review model documents and conduct test runs on model codes. Provide feedback on methodology and calculations to model developers. Work on model validation reports with hiring manager and provide ad‑hoc support as necessary. Skills and Qualifications A MSc or PhD in quantitative fields such as statistics, applied mathematics, financial mathematics, data science, actuarial sciences, or related fields. 2–3 years of relevant experience in model validation and/or development within a financial institution, preferably in the credit risk area. Experience in stress‑testing modeling processes. Proficiency in mathematics, econometric models, and statistics. Strong analytical, numerical, research, and problem‑solving skills. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and SAS (Python preferred). Proficiency in working with relational databases – SQL.
