Facilities Planner

Overview Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools is seeking a skilled and motivated Facilities Planner to join our Facilities and Operations team. This position plays a key role in ensuring our schools and support facilities provide safe, efficient, and inspiring environments for students and staff. The Facilities Planner will support the development of long‑range facility plans, coordinate capital improvement projects, and collaborate with district leaders, architects, engineers, and community partners to align facility planning with the district’s educational goals. Responsibilities Support the development of long‑range facility plans. Coordinate capital improvement projects. Collaborate with district leaders, architects, engineers, and community partners to align facility planning with educational goals. Maintain and manage facility information systems. Assist in the preparation of project proposals and budgets. Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Participate in the ongoing evaluation of facility performance and make recommendations for improvements. Qualifications High school graduation or equivalent. Graduation from an ASTTBC accredited diploma program in a related technology, with and five years related experience, and a minimum of three (3) years experience in project management or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Eligible for registration with ASTTBC as a certified technologist. Strong interpersonal skills. Thorough working knowledge of MS Office products, operating systems, networking, and GIS software. Proficient use of computer‑assisted drawing programs. Valid B.C. Class 5 Driver’s License. Working knowledge of the trades as applicable to the duties of this position. Salary & Benefits Wage $40.23 per hour. This position includes a comprehensive benefits and pension package.
