Locations Burlington, Oakville, Hamilton, St‑Catharines Objective of this role The primary purpose of the Business Development Partner (BDP) is to recruit, onboard, train, develop and coach new advisors during their first four years. You’ll help these advisors establish and grow a holistic financial services practice that includes life and health insurance and wealth products, while generating business results for the overall district. What will you do Source candidates for the Sun Life advisor role through community contacts and other referral sources. Support candidates and ensure a positive onboarding experience, including licensing studies, market identification, business planning and joint client appointments. Train and onboard new advisors and oversee successful implementation of their onboarding plan. Conduct training in product knowledge, sales process and pre‑ and post‑sales support. Develop advisor skills through coaching in prospecting, holistic business practice, cross‑selling opportunities, sales cycle and business management. Partner with advisors to meet their financial and strategic objectives. Collaborate with head office Centre of Excellence teams to support advisors. Monitor and track advisor activities, analyze data to drive business insights. Ensure compliance with regulatory and Sun Life obligations, including required training and product suitability reviews. Escalate client complaints and facilitate investigations. Ensure advisor conduct aligns with the Advisor Agreement. Achieve key recruiting and production metrics. Foster a positive culture through events and recognition programs. Build community presence for Sun Life and local advisors through events, activities and sponsorships. What do you need to succeed Business acumen, product knowledge (insurance and wealth) and market insight. Strong sales management and business development skills. Strong prospecting and recruitment abilities. Strong mentoring, coaching, performance management and influencing skills. Problem‑solving, analytical and decision‑making skills. Exemplary communication (presentation, written, verbal) and relationship building. Ability to support advisors in defining and accessing their target market. Previous experience leading sales teams. Forward‑thinking, goal‑oriented focus on achieving targets. Strong working knowledge of the regulatory environment. Ability to manage performance in a sales culture. Committed to ongoing personal and professional development. Qualification Minimum 2 years related experience in financial services. Valid Life Insurance Agent’s license in the district’s province. Valid Mutual Fund license or obtain within 90 days. Complete the Branch Manager’s Course Examination and register as a mutual fund branch manager within 6 months. In good standing with applicable regulators. Proficiency with technologies such as Salesforce.com, financial planning software and Microsoft applications. Valid driver’s license. Professional designation(s) in financial services. Previous advisor role experience. Previous people‑leadership experience. This role has a salary outside the posted range. Sun Life offers a market‑competitive total compensation package, including a base salary and variable incentive. The role is eligible for a sales incentive plan with industry‑leading opportunities. Salary Range (primary location): $80,000 – $128,000. The base pay may vary with location or other factors.
