Job Title: Senior Staff Accountant Department: Operations, East | Reports To: Tax Advisor Supervisor | Location: Barrie, Ontario (Hybrid – travelling to meet members, in‑office as required) | Employment Type: Full‑time, Permanent Position Overview Senior Staff Accountant who will meet with FBC members at their place of business to understand their financial situation and provide tailored tax strategies that minimise taxes both short‑term and long‑term. The role involves introducing members to our full range of services—including bookkeeping, legal assistance, payroll, and access to financial and estate planning professionals. This client‑facing, impact‑driven role is ideal for professionals dedicated to building relationships, solving problems, and delivering real value. This position is based out of the FBC Barrie location and requires regular in‑person visits with members and occasional travel to travel‑based client meetings. Key Responsibilities Provide exceptional tax and accounting advice to members. Review and file complex personal (T1) and corporate (T2) income tax returns. Develop and implement tax‑planning strategies for a diverse range of clients, including farms and small business owners. Meet with members in their place of business and maintain strong client relationships as a primary contact for key accounts. Conduct member reviews. Support seasonal and year‑round reconciliations and filings, including GST/HST, T1, T2, and other applicable tax returns. Foster strong relationships with members and secure member referrals. Recognise member needs and connect them with our other domain experts within the company and network. Education & Experience Comprehensive experience with at least one full corporate tax cycle; 3+ cycles preferred. Advanced knowledge of Canadian tax laws and regulations (T1, T2, T3) is preferred. Demonstrated experience managing client relationships and accounting teams. Proficiency in tax preparation and accounting software such as Taxprep/IFirm, Xero, or Profile. Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel. Strong proficiency in corporate tax processes and regulations. Experience with agriculture and/or preparing tax returns for farms and small businesses is preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Superior client service skills. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Proven ability to consistently meet deadlines. Dedicated to providing financial support that empowers members. Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to analyze unique scenarios and provide custom recommendations. Other Requirements This role requires travel; a reliable vehicle is necessary.
