Senior Product Owner

OverviewWe are seeking a Senior Product Owner who can help shape the mission-critical systems that serve as the backbone for Police, Fire, and EMS. The Senior Product Owner for AI Services will contribute to the evolution of our platform by integrating emerging technologies, including AI-driven solutions such as conversational frameworks, speech and vision technologies, and generative AI. You will serve as the key liaison between the software development team and the Product Manager, ensuring product requirements are effectively communicated, prioritized, and executed by the development team.You will manage the product backlog, define user stories, and facilitate Agile processes to deliver high-quality software products that align with the broader product strategy.What You DoCollaboration with Product Manager: Work with the Product Manager to understand the product vision, goals, and roadmap; translate strategic objectives into actionable plans for multiple development teams; provide feedback on feasibility, timelines, and technical considerations.Backlog Management: Own and manage multiple product backlogs, ensure items are well-defined, estimated, and prioritized across teams; create clear user stories with acceptance criteria; refine the backlog based on feedback and changing priorities.Development Team Support: Act as the primary point of contact for development teams, communicate product strategy, clarify requirements and priorities, and support Agile processes (planning, refinement, review); balance feature delivery with technical debt remediation; identify process improvements to enhance delivery.Stakeholder Alignment: Collaborate with Product Manager, Business Analysts, Designers, and other stakeholders; represent the voice of the customer to ensure features deliver maximum value; coordinate dependencies and cross-team initiatives.Quality Assurance: Review completed work against acceptance criteria and product vision; partner with QA to validate deliverables meet quality standards.Continuous Improvement: Analyze development processes for efficiency; use product metrics and feedback to refine the backlog and priorities; mentor other Product Owners and team members.What You BringRequired QualificationsDegree in Computer Science, Business, or related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CSPO, SAFe PO) are a plus.5–7 years of experience as a Product Owner in enterprise SaaS or public safety software, managing multiple agile teams or large-scale product initiatives.Familiarity with AI technologies, including NLP, conversational AI, or generative AI; AI capabilities across voice, text, and image workflows, including transcription, translation, entity recognition and summarization.Strong understanding of Agile frameworks (Scrum or Kanban).Proficiency in writing user stories, acceptance criteria, and maintaining product backlog.Hands-on experience with tools like JIRA, Confluence, or similar.Technical background or hands-on experience with software development processes.Excellent communication skills to articulate technical requirements to non-technical stakeholders.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Asset QualificationsUnderstanding of how AI can enhance user experience and decision-making in public safety software.Ability to translate AI capabilities into practical product features for real-world emergency response needs.Experience with "Aha" Product Management software.Familiarity with APIs, databases, and cloud platforms.Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent certification.Experience with Public Safety software such as CAD or RMS.NoteThis position requires a security clearance from the Government of Canada.
