Our Corporate head office is currently searching for an Assistant Controller to join our accounting team. The Assistant Controller is responsible for working closely with the Western Regional Controller to manage and coordinate the financial administration of the divisions and operations in Western Canada. The position will ensure the timely preparation of month financial statements, reconciliations, analysis and leading and managing the budget process including special projects. This position will directly supervise 5-7 members of the finance team and will work closely with operational managers.

Position Description:

ØLeads, manages, and coordinates the overall financial administration of the assigned division(s).

ØPreparation and submission of monthly financial statements with full analysis and commentary to Senior Staff and the Corporate Accounting Department.

ØProvide variance analysis on income and expenses as support to the monthly financial Statements.

ØMaintain accounting records within Business Central.

ØMaintain and create production/statistical databases/Excel tables.

ØPrepare and assists Regional Controller with annual audit, budget preparation and forecasts.

ØPrepare and assist with month end, reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and inter-company accounts.

ØPreparation of municipal invoices and revenue share schedules.

ØResponsible for daily/monthly bank reports

ØProvide assistance to Operation Managers as required to increase profitability of the division(s)/company.

ØPreparation of HST and Stats Canada reports

ØDelegating tasks to ensure proper workflow and efficiency

ØOversee and provides guidance to staff, establishing goals and objectives for staff and ensuring their performance meets the expectation

ØAssessing staff performance and providing performance reviews

ØMonitor staff productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching

ØAddress staff concerns and problems, motivate and maintain team moral

ØProvide training to team and new staff

ØMaintain/oversee timely vendor invoice processing and perform/oversee customer collections.

ØMaintain positive relationships with all staff, vendors, clients and municipal government contacts.

ØMaintain and create production/statistical databases/Excel tables.

ØAd Hoc reporting

ØPerforms other related duties as assigned

Skills & Qualifications:

ØFinal year of CPA studies or CPA designation.

ØMinimum 7-10 years of experience in working in fast paced, deadline driven accounting environment.

ØDemonstrated leadership and supervisory experience

ØExcellent time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines

ØExperience overseeing daily activities and following up on results

ØExcellent proficiency with productivity software, MS Office Suite, particularly Excel. (advanced skills)

ØStrong skills in using accounting software applications (Business Central, RTA Fleet Management Software, Navusoft or Materials Manager would be an asset)

ØStrong organizational, time management and interpersonal skills to function in a deadline driven environment.

ØStrong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with employees at various levels of the organization.

ØStrong ability to motivate and develop staff.
