My client is a fully integrated development and construction firm specializing in new build and tenant improvement projects across residential, multi-family, and ICI projects. Client The client specializes in new build and tenant improvement projects across residential, multi‑family, and ICI projects. They have a unique in‑house approach to their design, development, and construction teams that work collaboratively to bring projects to life. Role Senior Electrical Engineer P.Eng – Electrical Engineer to the new build construction team (project value $20M–$80M). The Senior Electrical Engineer leads the planning, design, and delivery of electrical systems for buildings of varying size and complexity, managing the full design process—from concept through construction—while ensuring alignment between internal design disciplines and construction teams. The engineer also serves as Engineer of Record on assigned projects. Key Responsibilities Lead the development and detailed design of building electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, life safety, and communication systems, ensuring performance, reliability, and code compliance. Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and construction managers to coordinate design drawings, technical documents, and specifications. Propose and implement enhancements to design standards to optimize quality, cost‑efficiency, and maintainability. Perform site inspections, field reviews, and building condition assessments to verify design intent and quality. Provide technical guidance for site instructions, potential change orders, and responses to contractor inquiries. Recognize and proactively manage contractual and professional risks associated with project delivery. Support and mentor junior engineers and designers, fostering professional development and technical growth. Prepare and present detailed reports, technical analyses, and system assessments. Communicate and coordinate with regulatory agencies to resolve technical and compliance matters. Carry out additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. Requirements P.Eng designation required and registered with EGBC. Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university. A minimum of 3 years in a P.Eng electrical engineering role. Experience on new build construction projects in North America (commercial, institutional or residential). Detailed understanding of electrical systems in BC including detailed design drawings, tender packages, budgets, shop drawings and commissioning phases. Confidence with BIM/Revit. Working knowledge of BC building codes and national building codes. Strong communicator and confident dealing with clients. Compensation Salary range: CA$110,000 – CA$145,000 per year, based on experience. Vacation. Wellness package including comprehensive group health and dental benefits. RRSP matching. Personal days.
