Position: Director, Corporate Finance and Control Employment Type: Permanent Compensation Details: Salaries typically range from $127,380 to $169,838 annually, based on qualifications and experience, plus a performance‑based incentive. Location: Hybrid work environment – requires employees to work in the office 3 days per week (subject to change). Can work from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa or from one of our Community Hubs in Toronto, Mississauga, Montreal, Brossard, or Laval. The team of approximately 35 financial reporting and accounting experts oversees accounting and reporting for loans, insurance, treasury, investments, tax and pension. Responsibilities span multiple lines of business and information systems. What You Will Be Doing: Establish and maintain accounting policies and controls, prepare financial reports. Perform general accounting activities and maintain financial records, including general ledger, financial statements, regulatory and management reports. Prepare, analyze and report accounting transactions ensuring integrity, completeness, accuracy and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles. Ensure all reports and disclosures comply with applicable government regulations, professional standards and organization policies. Provide financial regulatory and compliance reporting. Provide accounting guidance to ensure conformity with IFRS, company policies and procedures, and ensure appropriate and consistent application of accounting standards. Lead the implementation of new IFRS. Leverage modern tools and techniques to streamline reporting processes and provide better insights. Lead performance and skill/career development of assigned staff and provide indirect leadership across all teams within Corporate Finance and Control. Ensure the team has adequate capacity and capability to address organizational needs. Accountable for performance and results of multiple related teams and/or major business processes/value streams spanning the organization. Develop strategy for own area of accountability, including business and/or organizational priorities. Provide Senior Management with required information and reporting to meet compliance requirements and support management reporting and forecasting. Partner closely with the Enterprise Analytics and Forecasting team. Work closely with external auditors on various audit engagements. Liaise with Internal Audit on internal controls over financial reporting program. Support the Vice‑President on oversight of the incentive measures program. Demonstrate behaviors supportive of the organization culture, including customer focus, transparency and decisiveness. Influence a wide range of audiences and establish collaborative relationships within the organization. What We Are Looking For: Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or a related field. Professional accounting designation. Advanced knowledge of IFRS and accounting principles and practices. Minimum 10 years’ experience in Corporate Finance and Control or related experience. Minimum 5‑10 years of leadership experience. Strong presentation and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels. Excellent leadership skills demonstrated through guidance, coaching, and high integrity. Superior oral and written communication skills, able to convey complex subject matter clearly. Ability to influence a wide range of audiences and establish collaborative relationships. Ability to present and defend complex and delicate issues with significant business impact. Bilingual in both official languages (English and French) for leadership roles only (Manager and above). What Will Make You Stand Out: Experience in financial services and/or Crown corporation environment. Accounting experience in pension and taxation areas.
