Coordinator for the Promotion of Human DignityThe Coordinator for the Promotion of Human Dignity serves as a key leader in advancing the Catholic Church’s mission to uphold and protect the inherent dignity of every human person from conception to its natural end. Under the guidance of the Associate Director, the Coordinator mobilizes the faithful, builds strategic partnerships, provides awareness, education, and advocates for the accompaniment of those whose dignity is at risk.ResponsibilitiesCoordinate compelling prayer campaigns that support the dignity of human life by working collaboratively with RCAV Communications and external partners;Build, advance, and support Parish based human dignity ministry programs throughout the Archdiocese;Mentor and support Parish human dignity ministry leaders to mobilize prayer in their communities;Maintain existing programming and discern their future (for example, March for Life, Pro-Life monthly masses, Rachel’s Vineyard, 40 Days for Life, etc.);Education and AdvocacyOrganizes and leads talks on pro-life issues;Advocates for the defense and promotion of life from conception to its natural end;Coordinating and developing human dignity ministry events, training, and volunteer opportunities at the Archdiocesan level;Develop and provide spiritual and educational resources that articulate and foster understanding around Church teaching regarding human dignity;Raising awareness in our Archdiocese and the wider community, working with the Communications Office to establish an effective communications strategy and campaign;Coordinates with practitioners and CISVA to present Youth Fertility Awareness presentations in elementary and secondary schools;Training and FormationEquipping ministry leaders to plan, coordinate, and implement human dignity ministry programs at their parishes;Provide formation to parish staff, leaders and volunteers, in accompaniment and pastoral care for those whose human dignity is at risk;Evaluate pro-life Sunday grant applications, summarize and report on collections amounts, and chair Grant Committee;Assist with the recruitment of volunteers, facilitating shared learning across parish communities;HealthStay up to date with relevant changes to laws and practices as they relate to human dignity ministry;Work collaboratively with those in Catholic healthcare to promote holistic care;Represent the Archdiocese of Vancouver in the community;Working with Strategic PartnersHost and facilitate Bereavement training;Engaging with strategic partners to collaborate on the advancement of human dignity ministry;Build and maintain relationships with other organizations, leaders, and government agencies, seeking opportunity for collaboration;Desired Skills and ExperienceAt least 3 years of professional experience working in advocacy, pastoral ministry, or a related field;Experience planning and executing projects;Training and experience with trauma-informed care is an asset;A bachelor’s degree or higher in theology, healthcare, social work, public policy, or a related field is an asset;Excellent written and verbal communication skills;Proven track record of leading teams, particularly in a ministry setting;Ability to influence others and create a relationship of mentorship and coaching;Ability to work well with clergy, lay leaders, and vulnerable populations;Capacity to discern and navigate complex social situations;Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to listen well, manage conflict, and seek input from various stakeholders;Demonstrated ability to work with marginalized populations;Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team;Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products including but not limited to Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Conditions of EmploymentActive member of a Catholic parish;Exhibits fidelity to the teachings of the Catholic Church;Maintain an active spiritual life rooted in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, committed to personal prayer, reading Scripture, regular confession, and Mass attendance;Demonstrates a model of servant leadership in all his/her endeavours;Ability to meet the Archdiocese of Vancouver’s Safe Environment policies;Must be compliant with all applicable personnel policies.This is a full-time position.
