This is an excellent opportunity for those looking to develop their leadership and strong analytical skills within the real estate finance industry.This position is full‑time in person in our Calgary, AB office.BenefitsCompetitive annual salary plus bonusComprehensive benefits package, including extended health care (with paramedical coverage), dental, health spending account, Employee & Family Assistance Program, life & disability insuranceGrowth opportunities within Canada ICIMentorship from some of the strongest Analysts and Originators within the commercial real estate industryMatching RRSP ProgramResponsibilitiesAssist Mortgage Origination team in structuring mortgage opportunities based on the investment criteria of over 100 sources of mortgage capital available to Canada ICIFinalize and perfect information in location‑specific mortgage investment brochuresReview commitment letters relative to executed Term Sheets/LOIs for the Mortgage Origination team, lender and lender’s solicitorWork with the Mortgage Origination team to manage and coordinate the funding process including reviewing the fully executed commitment letter, preparing the funding checklist, communicating with the borrower and any third parties, and proactively addressing potential issues in underwriting and conditions precedentsEngage critical thought to ensure proactive thinking to successfully fund the dealHave a strong understanding of lending criteria for each lender and be able to suggest appropriate lenders when neededLiaise between borrowers and lenders to process the closing of the dealEstablish relationships with third‑party report providers (appraisers, engineers, cost consultants)Assist in training and mentoring analysts on the fundamentals of underwriting and fundingAct with a sense of urgency in advancing the dealsEstablish and reinforce underwriting standards and proceduresProvide underwriting on complex, non‑typical filesQualificationsBachelor of Commerce degree, B.Com; major in Finance is requiredMinimum 3 years of direct commercial real estate experience is requiredApplicable provincial mortgage license is considered an asset, or willingness to obtain within 12 months of employmentExcellent financial analysis, research and underwriting skillsHigh attention to detailClear understanding of cash flow statements, preparation and analysisSales‑focused individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skillsKnowledge of real‑estate or finance industry is requiredExpert level of knowledge in Excel (formulas, pivot tables, etc.)Past teamwork and team‑player focus and experience requiredAdobe InDesign software experience valuableExperience with CMHC’s MLI productsAbout Canada ICICanada ICI is the country's leading commercial real estate finance firm, annually arranging financing in excess of $9 Billion through its offices in Toronto, Vancouver, Victoria, Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton, St. Albert, Ottawa, Halifax, and Winnipeg.
