Work The region has multiple family practice clinics which offer a variety of in‑clinic services as well as opportunities to create a schedule that suits your needs and those of your family. The collegiality between the clinics is inspiring as clinics support the Creston Valley Hospital (CVH), a 20‑bed acute care hospital with an active 24‑hour emergency department and two long‑term care homes in the town. All Creston GP's provide routine clinical care within the practices of their medical clinic, and provide approximately 1:11 on‑call emergency services. GP anesthetists also provide GP anesthesia both in a scheduled, urgent care, and on‑call basis in rotation with other GP/A's. Acute patient services at CVH include GP surgery/anesthesia/low‑risk obstetrics, inpatient services, and dialysis. Local diagnostics are provided through laboratory services, imaging, and ultrasound. Support departments at the hospital include pharmacy, dietary, physiotherapy and occupational therapy as well as other ancillary services. The hospital also hosts visiting specialists to limit patient travel. Details New candidate would be joining the OR physician team of two experienced FP‑A’s (who are also FP‑OSS), another FP‑OSS and one FP‑ESS. Creston has 3 elective anesthesia days per week of OR. Local GP‑ESS, itinerant general surgeons, dentists for the elective slates. Cesarean Section (elective and emergency). FP‑A is a 1 in 4 MOCAP call schedule per month. When on call, available to ER for critical care cases and procedural sedations, available to maternity for obstetric epidurals, emergency C‑Sections and neonatal resuscitation/CPAP. FP‑A is also a family physician based out of a clinic with rostered patients. Associated in‑patient and long‑term care duties for these patients (usually shared as part of a group). As part of the Creston physician group, who all do ER shifts, the FP‑A’s take part in doing ER shifts to at least an ER physician half‑time equivalent. FP‑A is welcome to join the obstetric team for prenatal clinic and intrapartum care. But this is not expected. Creston has a young and dedicated team of OR nurses. We are part of the RSON (Rural Surgical and Obstetric Network) program through RCCBC, thus coaching and maintenance of clinical volume and skills are easily available. We have a proven continuous quality initiative. We have a good working relationship with the IHA management team and are actively looking at ways to expand and grow our surgical services. In association with the UBC Medical School, two of our clinics support students and residents, completing their rural component of their training and the students speak highly of their experiences with us.
