Under the direction of the Academic Clinician, Nursing Research Lead and in collaboration with Program Managers and the Professional Practice team, the Clinical Scholar provides dedicated leadership to support nursing practice and integration into the clinical area. The role supports nursing graduates, internationally educated nurses, nurses who are upskilling, and non‑nurse clinical externs and students. The Clinical Scholar promotes nursing/clinical skill acquisition, knowledge and competency reflective of evidence‑informed care for individuals admitted to specialized hospital services, and serves as a resource to nurses in their professional accountabilities and practices. Skills And Qualifications Required Current unrestricted registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario. Minimum of five years of recent experience in frontline care in a hospital clinical setting. Competency to provide learning support. Position Responsibilities Work in collaboration with the manager to support professional nursing competencies based on the College of Nurses of Ontario and best practice standards. Serve as a formal resource by assisting nurses on unit to achieve their learning needs. Provide support to program staff related to nursing practice and integration of skills in the clinical area in accordance with organizational and professional standards. Work with new nursing graduates, IENs, and nurses looking to upskill. Provide guidance on new practices/skills, policies and procedures, scope of practice, and equipment. Collaborate with Professional Practice to align with the vision and direction of clinical education. Liaise with the clinical team(s) and Program managers to optimize resources for frontline nurses. Identify clinical practice needs and opportunities for collaboration and shared learning. Work in compliance with the Health & Safety Act and its regulations in performing duties in a safe manner and follow all health and safety policies, procedures and legislation, including wearing the appropriate PPE.
