Under the direction of the Unit Manager, the Nurse Clinician in the Day Surgery & short-stay units is responsible for providing clinical support and leadership for the Surgery Program. The Nurse Clinician acts as a clinical expert resource for the multidisciplinary team and is responsible for leading quality improvement initiatives on the unit, as well as assisting with the daily coordination of patient care activities. The Nurse Clinician collaborates with the medical staff, clinical departments, and external clinicians to provide timely and efficient care for patients. The role includes clinical leader/expert, care coordinator, quality improvement leader and champion, and patient and staff educator (orientation) duties. The Nurse Clinician requires an advanced degree in surgical and medical protocols of care to deliver specialized expertise and skills to this patient population.
