The Opportunity We are seeking a seasoned, hands‑on, technical leader to manage a front‑end development team. This role requires an individual who is not only a skilled manager but also an expert‑level coder, spending approximately 60% of their time on hands‑on coding and architecture. The team builds high‑performance 3D visualisations of lidar and object‑detection data streamed live from installations worldwide, advanced analytics representations beyond standard charts, and complex 3‑D applications. Key Responsibilities Lead front‑end development team by example, allocating a significant portion of time to high‑quality coding. Serve as technical expert, guiding software architecture, best practices, and code reviews. Design and implement scalable, performant front‑end solutions for various applications. Engage with Ouster customers to gather use‑case insights, informing mock‑ups and wireframes. Manage and mentor front‑end developers and UI/UX designers, fostering technical excellence. Oversee UI/UX experts to ensure strong design‑development collaboration. Conduct code reviews, give constructive feedback, and guide professional growth. Lead planning and execution of multiple front‑end projects, ensuring on‑time delivery. Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical specs and roadmap. Identify and mitigate technical risks, ensuring long‑term health and scalability. Work closely with back‑end teams and other engineering leads for cohesive full‑stack development. Communicate technical concepts and project updates clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences. Required Skills & Experience Minimum 3 years managing a front‑end team with multiple delivered projects for diverse use cases. Minimum 10 years delivering modern browser‑based applications. Fluency in modern front‑end frameworks, with a strong preference for React. Expert‑level coding in JavaScript, TypeScript, and Python. Strong code review skills and ability to provide valuable feedback. Familiarity with design tools such as Figma and deep understanding of core design principles. Experience translating complex UI/UX designs into functional, intuitive interfaces. Comprehensive understanding of front‑end toolchain (Webpack, Babel, npm) and the broader stack (APIs, databases, cloud infra such as AWS, GCP). Extensive experience implementing UI test frameworks (Playwright, Selenium, Puppeteer). Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with track record of tackling complex technical challenges. Nice to Have Experience with 3D renderings, point‑cloud data, or products related to 3D visualization. Knowledge of lidar or perception‑based products or robotics.
