Hydro Asset Manager – North America role at Boralex Inc. The Group, composed of more than 800 employees, operates renewable assets with an installed capacity of over 3 GW and is developing a project portfolio of 6.8 GW in wind, solar, and energy storage. We’re looking for a professional with team spirit, efficiency, and operations management knowledge of hydropower projects and asset management. The ideal candidate is passionate about the role, enjoys a dynamic multidisciplinary environment, and is ready to apply leadership skills to manage a diverse site portfolio across Quebec, Ontario, British Columbia, and New York State. Key Responsibilities Asset Management & Optimization: Oversee the long‑term performance of hydropower assets, ensuring optimal operation, risk mitigation, and value maximization. Build and implement asset management strategies and performance monitoring tools in collaboration with internal teams. Financial Performance Monitoring: Monitor and analyze energy production, operational costs, and financial performance. Prepare and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and reports related to hydropower projects. Lead the annual budget building and approval process for sites under your responsibility. Contract & Stakeholder Management: Manage contracts, including PPAs, Asset Management Agreements, O&M contracts, and other project‑related agreements. Serve as the main point of contact for stakeholders, regulatory authorities, and contractors, and lead or participate in contract negotiations. Project Leadership: Provide strategic support for new projects, including feasibility studies, development, and integration into the portfolio. Contribute to M&A, partnerships, and new business opportunities. Lead projects that support asset optimization across all phases: M&A, capital recycling, development, construction, operations, and end‑of‑life. Risk & Compliance Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate operational, financial, contractual, environmental, safety, and regulatory risks. Performance Monitoring, Reporting & Documentation: Develop performance metrics and KPIs, provide regular updates to senior leadership, stakeholders, and partners, and maintain asset management program documentation. Operational Efficiency & Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with internal departments to improve strategies, implement innovative solutions, and contribute lessons learned to operational practices and project management systems. Additional Projects or Scope: Collaborate on opportunities across Battery Storage, Solar, Wind, Hydro, Combined‑Technology, and other renewable energy technologies. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or related field (MBA or similar considered a plus). 5+ years of experience in Asset Management or equivalent. Management, financial, and energy‑related technical experience; hydropower technology knowledge is a plus. Fluent in French and English (written and spoken). Excellent communication skills across multiple disciplines. Strong cross‑functional leadership, listening, solution‑oriented style, and project leadership capabilities. Self‑motivated, proactive, and experienced in executing tasks. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams, Project). Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Experience interpreting and developing financial models, budgets, and forecasts for renewable energy assets. Ability to understand a variety of contracts and translate requirements into actionable plans. Valid driver’s license. Travel Travel is required (up to 25% of the time on average) domestically and internationally to visit sites, attend stakeholder meetings, team meetings, or negotiations.
