Job Summary The Special Events Sales Manager for HISTORY Ottawa will be responsible for launching and building a premier events destination from the ground up. The role requires developing an operating strategy that aligns with the national vision, selling and managing special events, conducting site inspections, fostering client relationships, and collaborating closely with venue and talent teams. It involves contract negotiation, calendar management, and ensuring flawless event execution. The Role Key responsibilities include: Lead the opening and long‑term growth of HISTORY Ottawa. Achieve individual sales targets while discovering new business opportunities and maintaining existing client relationships. Conduct proactive sales calls, structured prospecting, and keep CRM aligned with strategies. Analyze competition and position HISTORY Ottawa as a preferred venue. Respond to client inquiries within 24 hours and manage them through established systems. Build a comprehensive client database targeting key companies and organizations. Nurture strong relationships with the Convention & Visitors Bureau, local chambers, hotels, vendors, and other community partners. Represent the venue at industry events and seek new hosting opportunities. Maintain accurate financial records and comply with departmental processes. Produce marketing collateral to support new business. Inspect client sites, generate proposals, negotiate contracts, and reconcile finances. Ensure seamless event execution across all operational departments. Collaborate with national leadership, sales peers, and premium sales teams to identify cross‑selling opportunities. Work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel as required. What This Person Will Bring 5–10 years of experience in Events, Hotel, CVB, or Catering Sales. Excellent calendar management and organizational skills. Exceptional communication and a strategic, collaborative mindset. Proven ability to lead initiatives and grow business in a competitive market. Strong understanding of event operations and execution. An established network of planning contacts is preferred. This role is local to Ottawa. You Are Passionate about concerts, live events, and creating new experiences. A collaborative team player who can also work independently. Highly organized with the ability to multitask and manage tight deadlines. Strategic, creative, and resourceful in sales and business growth.
