Active Start Camp Counsellor

Active Start Counsellor (Seasonal) The Granite Club is looking for a seasonal Active Start Counsellor who will work with their team to provide a safe, stimulating environment for the children in the Active Start programs or camp, allowing parents to participate more freely in sports and social activities offered at the club. Primary Responsibilities Safe check‑in and check‑out for kids. Manage drop‑off between 8:50 am – 9:05 am. Attend and actively participate in regular staff meetings. Assist children to get ready for activities and ensure timely participation. Provide a safe and fun environment for campers. Ensure rules are adhered to. Clean areas at the end of the activity. Ensure children eat lunch and snack. Model positive eating habits and encourage recycling. Creatively develop ideas for games. Dress up on dress‑up days. Document parents’ questions and concerns to the supervisor. Participate in non‑instructional activities such as water play and bowling. Be a positive role model for children to follow. Maintain accurate attendance lists and submit them to the LTAD Active Start Coordinator each week. Communicate with parents about their child’s day and establish a positive relationship. Ensure the First Aid kit is always up to date. Keep all medical information (alternate pick‑up people, allergies) readily available. Meet special requests such as drop‑off preferences and allergies. Provide feedback to your team as necessary. Delegate specific tasks to counsellors in your group. Be on time for your shift and ensure your team is ready 15 minutes before the start of camp or program. Take attendance and report absences daily. Know and enforce the Club House Rules. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Minimum Grade 12. Responsible, patient, and genuinely passionate about children. Experience working with pre‑school‑aged children is an asset. Previous experience as a camp counsellor and supervisor is an asset.
