Responsibilities Gather and retain current and accurate data on costs of goods, materials, market labour and equipment rates from suppliers and sub-trades. Identify most competitive rates based on cost analysis and comparison. Identify conflicts with plans and submit questions to consultant. Prepare detailed and accurate estimates by calculating material quantity take-offs, equipment and labour rates for tender verification. Review and evaluate proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and the content of estimate. Prepare budgets on award of proposals and prepare file for handoff to the Project team. Follow-up on submissions with clients and provide quantitative feedback on pricing. Maintain an active database of clients, vendors and sub-trades. Review estimate packages to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to final quotation. Prepare final estimate summaries, ensuring they address scope, pricing and comprehensiveness. Assist the Senior Estimator, Estimating team and Management team with the pursuit and acquisition of new projects. Review estimates with Sr. Estimator and the Management team. Qualifications 5+ years of experience in mechanical estimating (HVAC, piping, plumbing) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred) Minimum 5 years of extensive experience in organizing and preparing cost estimates and proposals for construction projects. Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and documents. Strong experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), MS project and CAD and or Revit. Excellent time management skills Ability to calculate mathematical extensions, analyze and understand construction drawings, documentation, contracts, cost coding systems and work breakdown structures.
