Joining at an exciting time, we are reinvigorating our key Brand Books and looking for an individual who wants to be a part of the process documentation journey to not only help shape the future of our Own Brand packaging guidelines but help own the process portion that accompanies the future. This candidate will be responsible for overseeing and developing the mechanical files and have the engineering eye to be able to develop functional packaging that markets our products within branding standards. Working closely with the Director, Product Managers, Design, our Staples US group, and vendor partners for approvals and strategic alignment, you will own the ways in which our product’s packaging consistency and messaging comes to life from ideation to launch across all our categories (Breakroom, Furniture, Office Supplies, Stationery, Kids Craft and Toys, Food and Bev, Sanitization, Seasonal, Lunch and Hydration, Travel Accessories, and Technology). Specifically, you will Own Packaging Design & Production – Design all packaging files, manage vendor release and approvals, and ensure compliance with Canadian standards. Manage Brand Books – Maintain and update 8 CAD brand books; propose changes based on market or legal shifts. Cross-Functional Collaboration – Work closely with Product Managers, QA, Director, and other stakeholders to meet release timelines and strategic goals. Packaging Process Leadership – Lead creation and management of packaging lifecycle tools and portals; help shape future department processes. Category Coverage – Oversee packaging across categories such as Breakroom, Furniture, Toys, Food & Bev, Tech, and more. Some of what you need BA in Visual Arts, specialization in graphic design, commercial art requested. Excellent communication skills required: written, verbal, presentation creation, email professionalism. Proficient in design software such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Extremely skilled in the understanding of production process and how to create designs that translate accordingly. Exceptional visual and aesthetic skills and impeccable attention to detail. Track record of managing multiple product timelines and prioritizing workload to meet release deadlines. Experience in the creative process of Packaging Guideline creation. Proven ability to work with multiple teams internally and externally with professionalism and collaboration. Minimum 3 years’ experience in retail goods packaging design and production, working in the world of combining colour, graphic, photography, and brand logos.
