Senior Financial Analyst

The Senior Financial Analyst provides expert financial planning and analysis services related to the annual operating and capital budget, which is prepared for review by Finance leadership, Senior Management, and final approval by the Governance Council. This individual is also tasked with producing quarterly operational and capital expenditure reports that are reviewed by Leadership before being submitted to the Governance Council.A significant part of the role involves the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and variance reports.Furthermore, the Senior Financial analyst provides professional advice and interpretation to various departments on complex accounting standards, including GAAP, IFRS, and FAA, as well as relevant WSCC directives.How you will make a differenceProviding analysis and advice to the Chief Financial Officer/VP, Financial Services and Finance Leadership Team through the Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis on financial decisions and technical advice on the budget management and financial analysis process.Supporting and/or providing technical expertise in the development of the WSCC’s Annual Budget.Providing performance measurement and coordinating and compiling corporate reports such as the Monthly Variance Analysis and the Quarterly Variance Report and Projections.What you bring to the roleA professional accounting designation (CPA), as well as 3 years directly related financial management experience in a computerized financial environment.Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.Criminal Record Check: Candidates must be able to provide a satisfactory criminal record check.
