In this role, you will Bring a customer‑focused mindset to all development, balancing the need to iterate quickly and deliver customer wins iteratively. Partner with the Engineering Manager to advocate for long‑term technical health of our products alongside product priorities. Act as a force multiplier on the team by leveraging other engineers and personally exemplify how to deliver value at Samsara. Mentor other engineers by actively participating in design and implementation conversations across the team. Champion, role‑model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally. Minimum requirements for the role Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent practical experience. 8+ years of relevant industry experience in software development. Strong programming/coding fundamentals with proficiency in at least one of the following: Go, GraphQL, TypeScript, React. Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage technical discussions. An ideal candidate also has Built and shipped a 0‑1 product and understands how to scale for growth and business impact post that phase. Experience working with ML engineers and applied scientists to deploy machine learning models to production. Understanding of how to build for stability and growth while being responsive to customer feedback. Prior experience working with geolocation data. Compensation Philosophy Samsara’s compensation program is designed to deliver total direct compensation (based on role, level, and geography) that is at or above market. We offer base salary plus bonus/variable and restricted stock unit awards (RSUs) for eligible roles. For eligible roles, a new hire RSU award may be awarded at the time of hire, and additional RSU refresh grants may be awarded annually. We pay for performance, and top performers may receive above‑market equity refresh awards.
