OverviewSupervisor and Chief Plant Operator, Facility Engineering - Signing Bonus and Relocation role at IWK Health. This position supports daily coordination of maintenance staff and departmental operations to ensure buildings, systems, and properties are safe, reliable, and compliant with standards required for patient care and mission-critical services. The role provides backup support to the Manager and Maintenance Supervisor and fulfills legislative duties as Chief Plant Operator under the Power Engineers Technical Safety Act.ResponsibilitiesSupervise staff and contractors; troubleshoot and prioritize work.Ensure compliance with safety standards and industry regulations.Coordinate maintenance across the main campus and 15–20 off-site locations.Provide backup support to the Manager and Maintenance Supervisor.Fulfill Chief Plant Operator duties under applicable legislation.About You (Qualifications)Grade 12/GED required.First class refrigeration certificate OR third-class power engineering certificate.Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in plant maintenance, construction, or operations AND/OR 3 years of experience with building infrastructure in an acute-care hospital setting.HoursMonday - Friday, 37.5 hours weekly with flexibility to meet the demands of 24/7 operations, including phone support and on-call rotation every third week.IncentivesSuccessful external applicants may be eligible for a one-time $10,000 signing bonus and up to $5,000 in relocation assistance, subject to a two-year return-of-service agreement.Location and TypeLocation: Halifax, Nova Scotia.
