The Cash & Events Supervisor is responsible for the daily supervision of Cashiers within the Cash and Events department. This includes the scheduling of daily activities including rotations and breaks. The Cash Supervisor will provide training and direction to Cashiers and will provide staff with feedback on their performance in the moment. The Cash Supervisor will be responsible for completing additional till transactions including facilitating the opening and closing of tills each day. Additionally, Cash Supervisors are responsible for supporting the in-store events and other marketing initiatives.The Cash Supervisor is responsible for customer service with all customers while processing till transactions. The role is the last touch point for most customers in our store and as such is a crucial interaction to complete our customer interactions as positively as possible. The role is responsible for the consistent application of all till applications and for following outlined cash procedures.WORK PERFORMEDDAILY SUPERVISIONPlanning and delegating the work of Cashiers including the scheduling of daily shift rotations to ensure all Cashiers are appropriately relieved when necessary and to ensure task variety to the teamSchedule daily breaks of CashiersTrain new Cashiers and provide on-going training to members of the departmentSetting expectations of performance and providing feedback to Cashiers in the moment regarding customer interactions and to ensure their compliance with cash procedures and best practicesActively managing the work of Cashiers by engaging with them, assessing and supporting them and providing tools for developmentEnforce policy adherenceOther duties as requiredTILL OPERATIONSFacilitate final purchase or returns of goods from store by efficiently and quickly ringing through customer transactionsOrder and receive cashPreventative maintenance of compu-safeEnsure pricing is correctProblem solving and reporting any issues with tools provided for role including till and pin padCarefully bag, box, or wrap customer purchasesRedeem couponsReceive payment by cash, debit cards and credit cardsIssue receipts, bag credits, or change due to customers.Maintain clean and orderly till areas.Adhere to a strict set of policies and procedures as outline by Community Natural Foods such as customer service, transactions, discounts and cash handlingOther duties as requiredCUSTOMER SERVICEGreet customers entering the stores and at the tills. Engage with customers in accordance with their interest, being attentive to their needsManage and resolve customer complaints effectively and understand when a situation requires a manager's intervention.Communicate sales and promotions, make sales referrals, cross-sell and introduce new products and support in-store eventsOversee the Customer Service desk and all questions/comments from customers at the Customer Service DeskCommunicate with customers and members of the public with high level of professionalism and with a positive and friendly nature.Answer customer questions as well as possible, and when answer is unknown work with customer to find a solution/answerUtilize best practices when handling cash and other payment methods to ensure positive overall interactionSUPERVISION RECEIVEDReports to the Cash and Events Manager; work is reviewed in terms of achievement of daily goals and application of knowledge, skills, abilities and attitudeQUALIFICATIONSHigh School diploma preferred1‐2 yeas of retail experienceExceptional customer service skillsProven numerical literacyHigh EQ – developed ability to relate with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all timesFriendly, positive attitude and high energyPerceptive, attentive and detail orientedHighly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environmentTechnical aptitude – developed competency with POS, computersQuantitative skills required for cash handlingTrouble shooting and problem solving mindsetExceptional conflict resolution ‑ willingness to directly address concerns when they ariseSelf motivatedExcellent organizational skillsTime management skillsHigh personal ethics and integrityAbility to work well under pressureProduct knowledge and sales skillsDependabilityESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSStand and walk for extended periods of time.Bend and stoop to grasp objects and climb ladders. Bend and twist neck and waist, reach above and below shoulders and squat.Bend and lift loads, not to exceed 50 pounds.
