You will help lead the development, maintenance and improvement of test frameworks through a QA lens. The Senior QA Developer strives to enhance the quality of software products and solutions, focusing on automation and performance.Location of Position: This is a hybrid position based in our Burnaby, BC office.Specifically, the Senior QA Developer will be responsible for:Design, develop, modify, and debug complex software applications, including coding for various platforms and ensuring alignment with product requirementsPlan, schedule, and execute advanced software testing tasks, including reviewing specifications, test plans, and user documentationApply and expand expertise in software development and testing practices, staying updated on best practices and processesServe as a resource for other departments regarding testing modules and report on issues encountered, documenting test results for follow-upAttend daily engineering status meetings. Report progress on tasks; raise issuesManage daily QA sync meetings. Review status of QA tasks from QA team. Identify, track, and resolve issues with the team.Manage weekly bug scrub meeting between Product Development and QA to go over un-scrubbed bugs. Assign priority and severity to the bugs with Product Development.Create QA Test BedsUse Azure Dev Ops to provision/manage VMs for test bedsUse test configuration tools to create configuration databases (CDUs) for use in product testing.Create test artifacts to support manual and automated testing. Artifacts include:Device templates used to create CDU configurationsTest scripts to inject real-time test dataTest scripts to modify, insert, and delete test data from SQL databaseTest scripts to validate test resultsMaintain a set of PowerShell test tools used to manage manual testing using the test CDUs and artifacts described aboveWrite Manual Test PlansWrite test plans which use the test beds above to test new features from Product DevelopmentMeet with Product Development team to get Transfer of Information (TOI) on new feature developmentUsing Azure Dev Ops to write test plans, cases and query-based test suitesSupervise the manually executed test plans and execute manual tests as neededResolve technical issues with contractors running manual testsWrite Product DocumentationWrite release notes for product release with Technical Writer coordination for releaseWrite subject matter expert documentation on how to use new featuresWrite specifications for test development for QA test automation developersWhat you Bring:Education and Experience5 – 7 years of Senior QA experience in testing distributed systemsQA Experience including networking, protocol testing, SCADA, Smart Grid, distributed computing and APIsSoftware Developer experience preferredExperience developing complex test beds including Linux and Windows OS experienceExperience testing web applicationsAbility to create test input dataExtensive experience writing test automation.
