About the Role:

The role involves close collaboration with advisors, operations developers, and documentation specialists to gather relevant and appropriate information for developing educational resources and support within the context of early learning and child care (ELCC). This includes conducting thorough research within Ontario's historical archives to secure Métis-specific content crucial for project work. Attention to detail is paramount to ensure the accuracy of historical information, with proper attribution given to sources. Additionally, the role will establish efficient digital archival systems alongside e-learning platforms to store and facilitate easy access to information for team members, promoting seamless workflow and resource utilization within the ELCC framework.

What you will be doing:
  • Develop comprehensive project work plans encompassing project overviews, timelines, expected outcomes, and resource requirements.
  • Develop instructional content for ELCC’s chosen Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Work closely with ELCC staff to define project parameters and delineate the scope of work.
  • Collaborate with ELCC staff to compile historical content of Ontario Métis culture and heritage.
  • Adhere to relevant guidelines to ensure proper historical information, images, or property attribution to their respective sources.
  • Offer guidance on copyright issues and using primary historical resources.
  • Collaborate with MNO's Communication team as necessary to ensure alignment with MNO's guidelines for content and resources.
  • Partner with ELCC Specialists to establish a standardized process for the entire ELCC, ensuring consistency in all learning and development resources.
  • Collaborate with ELCC Advisors and Specialists to facilitate the creation of resources for online learning management systems (LMS) and workshop content, utilizing multimedia tools to enhance learning.
  • Design and organize adult learning opportunities and workshops, both online and in-person, to facilitate cultural competency learning opportunities.
  • Use the LMS tools to create practice exercises, knowledge checks, assessments, and other instructional elements.
  • Assist with delivering and facilitating e-learning training sessions that adhere to MNO guidelines and Ontario Métis history.
  • Report on training completion and generate post-training reports to capture the effectiveness of e-learning programs.
  • Configure and maintain the LMS to meet the organization's needs effectively.
  • Perform LMS administrative tasks (e.g., managing accounts, courses, and system settings); monitor the system, troubleshoot user issues, and test courses for technical correctness, usability, custom interactives and multimedia.
  • Ensure courses comply with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
  • Attend meetings as required to strategize, review, and discuss project improvements.
  • Evaluate final projects to verify the accuracy, impartiality, and positive portrayal of Ontario Métis culture in the presented historical information.
  • Assist documentation specialists in organizing and contributing to the ELCC digital archive within MNO's secure storage system for all completed learning and development projects.
Qualifications:
  • Post-graduate degree in instructional course design, adult education or related field.
  • Ability to develop work plans and timelines independently.
  • Analytical mindset for interpreting data and generating actionable insights.
  • Problem-solving skills: be able to troubleshoot and resolve any issues with the LMS, collaborating with the IT department when needed for assistance;
  • Superior organizational skills.
  • Time priority management to guide program delivery and resource development.
  • Strong interpersonal skills demonstrated to motivate and work effectively with others.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality documentation in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Works well under pressure and requires minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work independently and provide high-level updates and work plans to management teams.
  • In-depth understanding of instructional design models and learning theories.
  • Ability to navigate, update and maintain learning management systems (LMS).
  • Experience and knowledge of various research and information-sourcing methods.
  • Experience in handling fragile archival records according to best practices.
  • Strong project management skills.
Preferred:
  • Knowledge of historical, cultural, and contemporary Metis perspectives.
  • Proficiency in ensuring Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) compliance in digital materials and platforms.
  • Ability to problem solve, identify trends, extract insights from analytics and data, and recommend improvements and actions.
  • Ability to work within planned deliverables and timelines.
  • Strong multimedia skills for different target audiences.

  • Ensuring consistency in style, tone, messaging, and quality to enhance projects and branding.
  • Previous experience in the Early Learning and Child Care field.
  • Experience developing and working with course development software and technologies such as Learndash, Moodle, Brightspace, and SAP.
  • Experience and background in creating educational resources that are accessible and suitable to adults.
  • Experience in developing, facilitating, delivering and assessing training in a blended learning environment or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with researching and archiving photos, government documents, church records, newspaper articles, personal correspondence, and digital content.
  • Experience working with historical associations, government agencies, genealogical organizations, universities/ colleges, libraries, etc.
  • Experience in organizing documentation materials for archive and future resource development.
  • Fluency with methods for sharing large file types and manipulating digital files for use in PowerPoint presentations and other presentation software.
  • Familiarity with OCAP (Ownership, Control, Access, and Possession) principles, particularly concerning data collection, storage, and information protection (considered an asset).
  • Experience with online instructional design principles and theories (considered an asset).
  • Understanding of the history of the Métis people of Ontario (considered an asset).
