The Cable Public Affairs Channel (CPAC) is Canada's window on parliament, politics and public affairs. As Canada's only national, bilingual media outlet focused exclusively on politics, we are unique in the Canadian media landscape. The Role: Based in Ottawa and reporting to the Executive Producer, CPAC is seeking a francophone journalist to join our editorial team on a 1‑year full‑time contract. This is a great opportunity for those with strong journalism skills and a passion for all things political. Primary Responsibilities: Produce assigned programs Develop program and segment ideas Script writing Provide guidance and advice to production personnel on technical, journalistic and aesthetic development of the full program and its individual segments Conduct research and identify story/program focus, guests, visual elements, and segment treatments Book and brief guests Book or request crews, feeds or other technical elements in collaboration with the Manager of Operations Coordinate the production of program segments and story concepts with regional freelancers/resources Input required compliance data and program information into Broadview and Dalet Participate in staff, program and other corporate meetings as required Maintain necessary program files and recordsDevelop and maintain positive work relationships with supervisors, coworkers, managers, consultants, talent and the public Create an environment that recognizes, supports, respects, and welcomes diversity of employees Undertake other related tasks as assigned by the Executive Producer. Qualifications: Undergraduate Degree in Journalism or Media Arts, or the equivalent combination of education and media experience Three to 5 years professional experience in television news or a combination education and experience Excellent French language skills in order to write and produce content for broadcast and online platforms Up to date knowledge of the Canadian political system, and of current and emerging issues Excellent analytical and synthesizing skills Critical thinking skills Excellent writing skills, including familiarity with Canadian Press style Advanced knowledge of video editing and video asset management platforms A strong track record using digital platforms for journalistic content Proficiency with Adobe Premier, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines Excellent organizational skills Able to work flexible, irregular hours Understands team dynamics Promotes an environment that recognizes, supports, respects and welcomes diversity of employees.
