Learn more at www.adm.com .About The PositionThis position consists of ensuring the safety of the ADM facility with respect to employee health and safety and compliance. Peer relationships include the Plant Manager, Production Managers, Quality assurance manager, front line supervisors, and others. This position has strict deadlines with the reports required by internal and external managers. Special attention to detail is required, even when faced with multiple tasks that need to be completed within 24 hours.Duties And ResponsibilitiesConstantly striving to achieve the goal of "Only Zero is Acceptable" through employee engagement, leading by example and thinking about innovationEnsure that a safe work environment is maintained at all times by applying company standards, ensuring that unsafe behaviors and conditions are corrected, and followed up on during regular inspectionsAssist in accident and incident investigations and follow up on corrective actions resulting from accident and incident investigationsBe a champion of Near Miss reportingHave a working knowledge in Provincial and Federal lawMust have a strong foundation related to Joint Health and Safety CommitteesWork in collaboration with the EHS Area Manager for the implementation and enforcement of all ADM health and safety principles. Provide mandatory trainings to all managers, hourly colleagues and entrepreneurs on the suitability of these programsEnsure that the site is consistently compliant with all regulations, policies and guidelines of ADM, the WSIB as well as provincial and federal governmentsDevelop, implement and maintain current programs, records and reports related to health and safety, government and environmental complianceCommunicate daily to management on issues related to facility safety, food safety and environmental issuesOversee client, third-party and regulatory audits in their respective areas of responsibilityAssist in obtaining passing grades by maintaining constant availability during auditsEnsure that corrective action plans are implemented so that any deficiencies identified by an audit are addressed in a timely mannerRequired Skills And QualificationsExcellent command of computers, communications, problem solving and leadership skills; ability to work as a member of a strong teamWorking knowledge of plant operations with respect to food processingAbility to walk, climb ladders, use tools, work in confined spaces, and extreme temperaturesAble to work both in an office and in an industrial environment for long periodsMust be willing to travel and/or move to other ADM facilitiesMay involve sporadic off hours and weekend work when plant needs require itCommunicate status updates and suggestions for improvementsEducation or Work ExperienceBoard of Certified Safety Professional (BCSP) Certification would be an assetCertified in First Aid, CPR, & AED TrainingMinimum of five years work experience in a dedicated health and safety position with knowledge of industrial environmental/regulatory compliance or a degree in SafetyCertified Fire Protection SpecialistBachelor’s degree in related/relevant fieldEnvironmental / environmental health engineeringOccupational health and industrial hygieneAdditional InformationWork in accordance with local/provincial/federal legislationUnderstand and be accountable for full compliance with safety and other EHS requirementsFollow ADM health and safety standards and report all unsafe acts or conditions to supervisorIf you love the challenge of this dynamic career, ADM supports professional development and is an equal opportunity employer.
