The Engineering, Parks and Environment department has an exciting opportunity for two (2) regular full-time Project Managers, Utilities. We are looking for results-oriented professionals who can provide strong communication and organizational skills to manage projects focused on assessing, maintaining, and replacing critical City infrastructure including water, sewer, drainage, and roadways. As a Project Manager, you will serve as the key liaison and coordinator among interest holders while overseeing project execution. Working closely with project teams, you will ensure that all activities comply with contractual requirements, design standards, and industry best practices in construction and commissioning. Responsibilities include preparing comprehensive project plans and documents, encompassing schedules, budgets, supply chain strategies, and communication protocols. You will review plans and drawings for compliance with established standards, monitor construction progress, and provide guidance on proposed changes. The role also entails securing all necessary permits, land tenures, and rights required for construction. In collaboration with the Construction Manager, you will ensure that all work is executed in accordance with contractual obligations, regulatory requirements, and occupational health and safety standards. Additional responsibilities include engaging with interest holders, reviewing invoices and payment claims, preparing technical reports and project specifications, and overseeing the work of contractors and consultants. You will also contribute to the development and implementation of design, construction, and operational standards, while fostering strong and collaborative relationships with external partners, internal departments, and the public. You have related experience in a supervisory and administrative capacity along with a diploma or degree in Applied Science in a related discipline. You possess attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple projects of varying size and complexity, and have experience in municipal infrastructure management. You have experience delivering projects as a contract administrator and have field experience on construction sites. Your strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills will facilitate the working relationships with internal and external contacts. Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite are required and experience using an Enterprise Resource Planning system (ie: Infor Public Sector) would be an asset. Familiarity with MMCD or similar contract documents and formal project management training or certification is preferred. We offer an attractive remuneration and benefits package for this exempt position, including a compressed work schedule. This pay ranges from $119,964 - $141,132 annually (2024 rates).
