AVP/Senior Underwriter, Commercial Management LiabilityJoin to apply for the AVP/Senior Underwriter, Commercial Management Liability role at Sompo.We are seeking an experienced Underwriter at the AVP or Senior Underwriter level to join our Commercial Management Liability Canadian team in our Toronto, Ontario office. This position will support our Canadian Domestic platform.As an AVP/Senior Underwriter, CML, you will play a critical role in evaluating and analyzing D&O, Fiduciary, Crime, and EPL Liability insurance risks for publicly traded clients in Canada. You will assess risk factors, determine coverage and pricing, and collaborate with other stakeholders to develop underwriting strategies that align with the company's goals and guidelines.What you’ll be doingReview and analyze management liability insurance submissions for publicly traded clients, including D&O, Fiduciary, Crime and EPL Liability insurance risks.Evaluate and analyze historical loss data, risk management practices, financials, and other relevant information to determine appropriate coverage terms, conditions, and pricing.Collaborate with brokers and clients to provide risk management advice and develop comprehensive insurance programs that meet their needs.Negotiate policy terms, conditions, and pricing with brokers and clients, while adhering to underwriting guidelines and profitability targets.Underwrite new and renewal book of business.Stay up-to-date with market trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes to effectively assess risk exposures and determine appropriate coverage solutions.What You’ll BringBachelor’s Degree or relevant work experience.Minimum experience for a Sr Underwriter is 5+ years of financial lines underwriting experience, preferably in the Canadian market.Management liability products underwriting background, including D&O, Fiduciary, Crime and EPL Liability.Financial Institutions underwriting experience would be an asset.Professional designations, such as Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP), Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP), CRM, would be a plus.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders.Knowledge of Canadian insurance regulations and market trends.Ability to travel as required.French language is an asset.This job description outlines the general nature and level of work performed by individuals assigned to this position.
