This role will, under general supervision, review and monitor credit sources and credit files. You will perform routine credit checks and obtain supplementary information. The specialist may negotiate with customers to make payment terms under specified guidelines. This role serves as lead level and complex issues may be escalated to this level. Typically has 5 or more years of experience.

Imperial Dade is the leading distributor of foodservice packaging, facilities maintenance supplies and equipment in the U.S. As a provider of customized supply chain solutions, the company serves customers in many business-to-business market segments including supermarkets, healthcare facilities, universities, and restaurants. Founded in 1935 and headquartered in New Jersey, Imperial Dade serves more than 80,000 customers through a footprint of 80+ branches.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with customers both internal and external
  • Monitor a specific portfolio of accounts and initiate action to facilitate on-time payment of invoices, to recover delinquent receivables and to reconcile payment discrepancies
  • Collect relevant information that is needed to affect payment, including obtaining copies of invoices, proof of delivery, credit memos, cheque remittance/backup
  • Customer contact (via phone and email)
  • Collect and resend customer statements, invoices and shipping documents when requested
  • In a timely fashion, process clearing requests to offset customer debits with adjustments ensuring accurate reconciliation of balances on the sub ledger
  • Respond to and troubleshoot billing discrepancies, collaborating with Sales, Customer Service and Credit Support Team
  • Monitor and approve customer purchase orders and when necessary, secure payment arrangements on delinquent accounts to avoid untimely shipping delays
  • Solicit, confirm and process credit card payments and channel payment direction to Cash Operations. Create and maintain Credit Card tokens
  • Collect the necessary information and documentation to advance customer file for Credit Line Increase review, collaborating with Sales Associates and Underwriting
  • In case of delinquency and/or business closure, responsible for the collection of documentation and analysis to proceed with third party collection action and/or file closure with subsequent bad debt write off
  • Responsible for keeping sales associates and management informed of any customer changes (operations, trending etc) that might affect sales opportunities, profit and/or bad debt exposure
  • Responsible for general file maintenance (Accounts Payable contacts, email addresses, telephone numbers)
  • Portfolio weight will range from $2Million - $15Million
  • Respond to and circulate trade credit references
  • Other tasks as requested by Credit Manager

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in Accounts Receivable/Collections role
  • B2B would be an asset but not mandatory
  • Demonstrates proficiency in PC applications, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and other applications as required
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral with a clear speaking voice
  • Strong attention to detail and well organized
  • Strong time management skills
  • Self starter with ability to multi task
  • Ability to work in a team environment or on an independent stretch goal
  • High school diploma or equivalent
