Share your drive and aspirations with us, and we’ll ensure that your efforts open doors to new opportunities and growth.THE POSITIONThe Senior Accountant will play a key role in managing SMG’s financial health through accurate reporting, compliance, and process improvement. Reporting to the Controller, this role is responsible for full-cycle accounting, financial analysis, and supporting audits, while ensuring accuracy in all financial data. The Senior Accountant is detail-oriented, analytical, and thrives in a collaborative environment where strong financial stewardship directly contributes to SMG’s growth.HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING AN IMPACTPrepare financial statement in compliance with GAAP/IFRS.Manage month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations and accrualsMaintain general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial data.Support audits with documentation and process improvements.Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures.Prepare and submit sales tax and other required filings.Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable operations as needed.Lead weekly and ad hoc payment runs.Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and strengthen internal controls.WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKEAccurate and timely financial reporting that supports business decisions.Compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and audit requirements.Streamlined accounting processes that improve efficiency and reduce errors.Strong internal controls that protect financial integrity.Trusted financial insights that contribute to organizational growth.WHAT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU REQUIRE5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in corporate or public accounting.Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS and Canadian tax regulations (GST/HST, PST).Proficiency with ERP/accounting systemsAdvanced Excel skills with strong analytical and problem solving abilities,Exceptional attention to details and accuracy.Experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset.THE BENEFITS OF BEING PART OF OUR TEAMWe believe that a healthy, supported team is key to our success.
