Maplesoft Group is currently seeking an Application/Software Architect for our Federal Government client. The Application/Software Architect must complete the following tasks, including but not limited to:

  1. Develop conceptual and logical application architectures, modules, frameworks and strategies to meet the business, functional and non-functional application requirements;
  2. Research, analyze, evaluate and recommend select technologies and technical approaches to address challenging development and integration problems with application architectures deployed to a cloud environment;
  3. Identify the policies and requirements that drive out a particular solution to a complex situation;
  4. Ensure the integration of all aspects of technology solutions;
  5. Monitor industry trends to ensure that solutions fit with government and industry directions for technology;
  6. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and analyze functional requirements to identify information, procedures and decision flows;
  7. Evaluate existing procedures and methods, identify, design and document database content, structure and application sub-systems, and develop data dictionary;
  8. Define and document complex interfaces of manual to automated operations within application sub-systems, to external systems and between new and existing systems;
  9. Define input/output sources, including in depth detailed plan for technical design phase, and obtain approval of the system proposal;
  10. Provide guidance and mentorship to development teams, ensuring best practices in coding, design patterns, and architectural principles are followed;
  11. Identify and document system specific standards relating to programming, documentation and testing, covering program libraries, data dictionaries, naming conventions, etc.;
  12. Produce status reports;
  13. Develop, test and implement technical design;
  14. Review code and ensure that it aligns with the architecture vision and meets quality standards, including the enforcement of coding standards;
  15. Create and maintain comprehensive software architectural documentation that can be used by developers, testers, and future application software architects for reference;
  16. Prepare transition material and participate in transition activities no later than 10 days in advance of end of contract (assuming no contract renewal or extension);
  17. Optimize application performance, responsiveness and usability.
