What You Would Do in This Role Develop the process design for a project or proposal consisting of a normal process unit. Provide comprehensive engineering and design services by establishing design criteria and preparing specifications, design computations, drawings, models and bills of material in accordance with basic project requirements. Participate in the design of component parts and individual units. Exercise cost/budget control, and review and monitor designs for conformance with control estimates and project specifications. Review and maintain project schedules, and track engineering tasks and deliverables in conjunction with project management. Supervise various activities involved in the design of a project consisting of several complex process units. Perform detailed calculations. Participate in design reviews and HAZOPs as required. Provide technical guidance to junior staff. Interface with client representatives. Maintain current knowledge of industry and regulatory standards. Review vendor or subcontractor quotations, drawings, and specifications for technical adequacy and conformance with project requirements. Apply advanced engineering techniques and analyses to complex engineering tasks. Adhere to Vista Quality Management System (QMS). Ensure design is in accordance with applicable codes and requirements, including Vista and client specifications and standards. Assign and outline work for others, and review work for technical accuracy and adequacy. Actively steward change management as related to their scopes of work. Prepare or assist in the preparation of discipline inputs for cost estimates for proposals. Provide construction support. Authenticate documentation with a professional engineering stamp as required. Apply broad working knowledge of most types of equipment with specialized knowledge of one or more equipment types. Prepare and review equipment specifications and datasheets for complex equipment and packages. Prepare material requisitions and technical bid evaluations for complex equipment and packages. Prepare and review equipment lists. Provide fabrication/technical support to vendors for complex equipment and packages. Review equipment drawings, P&IDs, and general arrangement drawings from a mechanical standpoint. Prepare and review engineering work packages. Prepare and review designs and specifications for mechanical systems and materials. Contribute and review technical selection, sizing and evaluation of equipment. Perform other duties as requested. Requirements Eight (8) or more years of progressive experience in facilities engineering and design in the energy industry. Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in engineering or applied science. Ability to work and collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team including Process, Mechanical, Civil, Structural & Architectural, Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls and Piping Engineers and Designers as well as Project Management and Procurement personnel. P.Eng. registration with APEGA. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. Strong written and oral communication skills. Strong organizational skills, technical competence and attention to detail. Self‑motivated and efficient in time management. Strong working knowledge and understanding of applicable codes and industry standards. Ability to meet safety requirements to attend site visits. Preferred Ten (10) years or more of experience as a fully qualified engineer, with five or more years of experience in the energy industry.
