The Opportunity WSP is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to work with a collaborative Ground Engineering team across Northern Ontario. The role involves leading projects, conducting site investigations, preparing reports, and mentoring junior staff. You will be based in North Bay, Sault Ste. Responsibilities Assist in the growth of WSP’s Geotechnical Engineering presence in Northern Ontario by expanding our client base and project portfolio. Lead and manage geotechnical engineering projects from inception to completion. Facilitate site investigations, soil and rock sampling, and geotechnical analysis. Prepare and review geotechnical reports, designs, and recommendations. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers and technical staff. Collaborate with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project success. Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices. Participate in business development activities, including proposal preparation, client meetings, and site visits across Northern Ontario. Stay current with advancements in geotechnical engineering and incorporate new technologies and methodologies. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred). Registered as Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario. Minimum 10 years of relevant post‑degree experience in geotechnical engineering, consulting and/or project management. Track record in business development with strong existing client base preferred. Demonstrated success in customer service, client management and proposal/report writing. Strong technical knowledge in soil mechanics, foundation engineering, slope stability, and ground improvement techniques. Proficiency in geotechnical software and tools. Strong technical writing, interpersonal communication, and emotional intelligence. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a team. Ontario Driver’s License and reliable vehicle.
