Salary range for the position is $74,618 to $107,264. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.

How will you create an impact:
The Advisor, Environmental Public Health Systems Support Consultant supervises the Systems Support and Information Management staff, including providing input into hiring, orientation, training and performance evaluation. The Environmental Public Health Systems Support Consultant is also responsible for leading the development of new information management projects for Environmental Public Health. Oversees all aspects of program delivery, including planning, implementing, and evaluating the delivery of Environmental Public Health initiatives. Includes database management, training and public health information. Provides input into the development and monitoring of policies, procedures and standards related to EPH information management. Acts as the designate for the Manager as assigned.
In alignment with IH’s Occupational Health & Safety Program, employees shall adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times and attend all required training. Employees are responsible to report any identified hazards, unsafe conditions or incidents to your manager or supervisor immediately.
What will you work on:
• Supervises the Systems Support and Information Management staff, including coordinating daily work activities, maintaining timekeeping/payroll documentation, approving vacations and other leaves, evaluating employee performance, coaching and mentoring staff, identifying training needs, and assisting in the recruitment staff.
• Identifies data quality improvement opportunities and needs for the Information Management team and establishes strategies and solutions to ensure identified information system risks are appropriately mitigated.
• Maintains the integrity of information management data by supporting staff in monitoring the effectiveness of, and providing input into, the development and implementation of data quality processes and procedures. Oversees information system audits to evaluate data quality and the effectiveness of data stewardship activities.
• Ensures Environmental Public Health (EPH) training needs and training resources are developed in consultation with the IMIT systems support team and that business expertise is available during the delivery of user training. Oversees the evaluation of education and instruction methods. Provides input into the planning, implementing and evaluating of educational training programs to meet the learning needs of users within the areas/departments with respect to education of new users and the continuing education of users regarding EPH information.
• Ensures the EPH website content is accurate, current, and reviewed on a regular basis.
• Leads the Information Management Steering Committee and other working groups as required. Ensures working groups are provided with overall EPH information management direction, identifies opportunities, resolves conflicts and ensures that the results are consistent with the overall direction of EPH.
• Assists in the development and evaluation of program policies and standards and develops and implements work methods and procedures.
• Acts as a liaison with members of the assigned areas/departments and vendors to trouble shoot problems, assess priority, research and evaluate alternatives and implement recommendations.
• Supports external data reporting to the Ministry and other internal and external stakeholders, such as, Office of the Provincial Health Officer, Ministry of Health, Seniors Advocate and the Interior Health Board of Directors.
• Monitors, and regularly reports to the Manager or designate, the extent to which program goals and objectives are met by analyzing and interpreting data from the EPH information systems.
• Acts as a resource to all Environmental Public Health staff and leadership by communicating current information on approaches to EPH services and researches new and/or alternate methods of service delivery. Supports staff innovation and grassroots initiatives.
• Measures and monitors the extent to which quality practice is being delivered in the program by assisting the Manager (or designate) in activities such as conducting team meetings, observing staff delivering service, and by soliciting feedback from programs served. Recommends corrective actions when departures from quality professional practice occur.
• Assists the Manager (or designate) in the management of financial, technical and human resources through participation in such areas as program planning processes and budget monitoring. Assists the Manager (or designate) in budget implementation and in taking corrective action to maintain a balanced budget.
• Participates on internal and external committees as assigned.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualfications
Education, Training and Experience
• A Bachelor’s Degree in a health-related discipline.
• Five (5) years recent related Environmental Public Health experience, including two (2) years’ experience with Health Information Systems, as well as two (2) years’ supervisory or management experience and experience with program planning, policy development, implementation and evaluation.
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

• Ability to teach clients and others both one-on-one and in groups.
• Computer skills including the use of Meditech and Windows based programs.
• Data analysis skills including appropriate data analysis and reporting tools. Demonstrated ability in the use of e-mail and word processing.
• Current valid BC driver’s license.
• Able to travel throughout Interior Health, including overnight, to provide training and other service delivery.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
