This position will be filled in accordance with the Agreement between the Board of Trustees and Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 29: Specialized High School Educational Assistant with Japanese Fluency at Medicine Hat High School 15 hours per week Starting for the 2024-2025 school y ear. Medicine Hat School District provides quality learning environments that make available positive experiences that are developmentally appropriate and support the whole child. An Educational Assistant is required for the Japanese program at Medicine Hat High School. We are seeking a motivated, dynamic individual with an inclusive mindset who will be able to help us meet the needs of our diverse student population. The qualified candidate must be able to fulfill the following expectations: Build quality relationships with youth and assist students with language acquisition and classroom activities, assignments, and projects in Japanese. Engage and communicate with students and staff in Japanese fluently. Translate instructional materials and communications between teachers, students, and parents as needed. Provide one-on-one or small group support to enhance students' understanding and performance in this subject area. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment. Assist in the preparation of classroom materials and resources. Monitor and document student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
