Director, Strategic Engagement

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive public engagement and communications strategy, including narrative development, digital campaigns, media outreach, and events, to promote Play for Dignity’s mission, increase public awareness, and drive stakeholder engagement.

• Design and execute innovative strategies to secure diverse funding sources, such as corporate sponsorships, grants, major gifts, and individual donations. Lead the creation and delivery of compelling collateral to support storytelling and fund development efforts.

• Cultivate and maintain long-term relationships with donors, foundations, corporate sponsors, and key stakeholders. Foster meaningful partnerships with community organizations, government agencies, and other relevant entities to promote collaboration and drive systems and culture change in alignment with Play for Dignity’s mission.

• Serve as the internal champion for brand clarity and consistency by developing and enforcing brand guidelines, ensuring all communications and activities align with Play for Dignity’s vision and values.

• Collaborate with the CEO and Director of Policy and Programs to shape and execute organizational goals and strategies.

• Stay ahead of industry trends and innovations, current affairs, and relevant issues in sport and human rights, while proactively adjusting strategies to leverage emergent opportunities.

Experience and Competencies

• A graduate level degree in a related field (e.g., communications, marketing, business administration, public administration etc.) or equivalent professional experience, demonstrating strong foundations in relevant disciplines.

• Proven experience in fundraising, communications, and digital marketing, with a successful track record in driving revenue growth through traditional and innovative strategies, donor stewardship, and cultivating key partnerships.

• Expertise in digital marketing and strategic communications, with a proven ability to leverage digital platforms, social media, and content management systems for effective public engagement and fundraising.

• Proven track record in building and stewarding relationships with diverse public, private, and corporate partners, sponsors, donors, and stakeholders. Skilled in working professionally and effectively with internal and external partners at all levels.

• Exceptional writing (particularly proposal writing), presentation, and communication skills, with strong strategic, analytical, and critical thinking abilities. Excellent interpersonal skills for team collaboration, and superior organizational and time management skills to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

• Demonstrated experience in leading and managing inspirational and effective events.

• Strong political instincts, sound judgment, and relevant professional experience in public affairs and/or public relations.

• High level of experience with CRM, MS Office Suite, and relevant design and communication tools.

• Ability to speak and write fluently French, experience working in the sport and physical activity ecosystem, and knowledge of social and economic rights framework is an asset.
