We are hiring a Junior Corporate Accountant for our Calgary head office If you are a detail‑oriented problem solver who thrives on collaboration and wants to help transform the landscape of our department, we want to hear from youYou will assist in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting preparation and be a key member of the team, providing detailed analysis on key business drivers. Working closely with the Manager, Financial Reporting, you will collaborate cross‑functionally to improve processes and providing ad‑hoc financial analyses to support decision‑making.What you will be doingAssist in preparing and delivering the monthly financial reporting package to support timely management reviewsManage, maintain, and reconcile all balance sheet accounts with comprehensive variance analysis, ensuring compliance with ASPEMaintain and analyze monthly prepaid expense schedules, ensuring accuracy and recording monthly amortization entriesPrepare and post recurring and non‑recurring journal entries with keen attention to detailComplete and submit required statistical government surveys accurately and on scheduleSupport the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements, including detailed note disclosures and Management’s Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) narrativesCollaborate cross‑functionally to gather financial data, streamline month‑end closing processes, and recommend improvements to enhance efficiencyWork closely with external auditors during interim and year‑end audits to facilitate a smooth audit processProvide ad‑hoc financial analyses and reports to various departments and stakeholders to aid decision‑makingWhat we would like from youA Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field3 years of hands‑on experience in a finance or accounting focussed roleProficiency with the MS Office Suite; intermediate Excel skills are required, advanced skills are an assetExperience working with Oracle Cloud or other ERP softwareA proficient understanding of ASPE (Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises) would be considered an assetExposure to data visualization tools like Power BI or willingness to learn would be an assetAbility to communicate financial concepts clearly in writing and verballySelf‑driven with the ability to independently manage multiple priorities and deadlines, while maintaining excellent attention to detailCommitted to maintaining high accuracy standards while continuously enhancing processes and leveraging automation to increase efficiency and reduce errorsStrong sense of ownership, accountability, and proactive problem‑solvingCritical thinker with strong judgment and decision‑making skills, capable of analyzing complex situations and making informed, independent decisionsStrong communicator who conveys information clearly and transparently, using factual evidence to build trust and foster dialogueLocation and other key details:This is a full‑time permanent position based out of our Calgary Corporate OfficeThe hours of work will be Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week with occasional additional hours as requiredWhy BURNCO?Be part of a supportive, high‑performing team that values your growth and successEnjoy competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, paid time off, and moreExperience our inclusive, collaborative, and safety‑focused cultureTake part in team events, professional development activities, and community initiativesJoin us and be part of an organization that values safety above all.
