Medical Science Liaison, Gastroenterology (12 month contract) Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada Purpose: The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is the field-based advocate of JNJ Innovative Medicine Medical Sciences and is accountable for executing the Medical Sciences Plan. They serve as the scientific point of contact for key individuals (KIs) in a given territory and help address medical, scientific and research needs. You Will Be Responsible For Maintaining up-to-date scientific expertise with regular attendance at key scientific/clinical/economic conferences, training sessions and preceptorships. Disseminating, reviewing and presenting clinical and scientific data in a balanced, unbiased manner to key opinion leaders (KIs) and other healthcare professionals, in group and one‑on‑one settings. Building strong relationships with HCPs based on scientific credibility. Developing scientific communication materials (slide presentations) for dissemination to HCPs through meetings and providing congress support. Ensuring a regional scientific leadership strategy via credible and informed scientific dialogue with KIs. Leading or participating in medical and scientific forums (e.g., ad boards and medical education events) where KIs are involved. Supporting phase IIIB/IV local and global clinical development programs. Contributing to site identification, patient enrollment and follow‑up visits. Assisting in the interpretation of results, post‑hoc analyses and research collaboration with investigators. Supporting investigator‑initiated studies by fielding and assessing research requests, aligning investigator interests with JNJ’s research needs, and engaging investigators to ensure successful execution. Analyzing data – new and post‑hoc – to develop insights and contribute to publications as appropriate. Providing expert clinical consultation and support to business partners (e.g., Access, Medical Education, Sales and Marketing). Partnering and collaborating with in‑house business partners to facilitate ongoing exchange of clinical information. Providing regional medical perspective to influence the integrated Medical Affairs plan which complements the Integrated Lifecycle (ILCP) plans. Supporting the Medical Science publication plan. Education Minimum of a university degree in science or health‑related field with significant therapeutic‑area experience. MD, PhD or PharmD preferred. Qualifications / Requirements Proven ability to learn quickly and assimilate large amounts of information. Strategic thinking and a track record of flawless execution. Effective communication skills to convey information to KIs and non‑experts. Ability to distill data into concise, contextual insights. Strong project management, critical thinking and stakeholder influence. Business acumen with prioritization skills and a big‑picture orientation. Scientific knowledge, curiosity, and an interest in keeping abreast of scientific trends within the therapeutic area. Initiative, prioritization and follow‑through in a field‑based role. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other relevant software. Willingness and ability to travel nationally and internationally up to 70% of the time. Accommodations for overnight travel as needed (1–2 times per week). Preferred Minimum of 3 years business experience in the pharmaceutical industry with a strong clinical and/or scientific background in a relevant therapy area. Knowledge of the therapeutic area of interest and the ability to acquire expertise in other areas as needed. Experience managing clinical/ scientific programs from study concept to publication. Knowledge of GCP, IMC code and Healthcare Compliance policies. Familiarity with working in an environment guided by SOPs. Johnson & Johnson is an equal opportunity employer.
