We continuously push the boundaries of design and quality with a constant focus on providing high-performance solutions and value.Position OverviewWe are looking for a seasoned professional to work in our Mechanical Design wing. Working in close collaboration with industrial designers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers and software developers, you will play a key role in creating mechanical design for products that last, with particular emphasis on quality and user experience.Key ResponsibilitiesDefine the look and feel of new products.Create designs for manufacturability and assembly.Create detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and prototypes using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.).Optimize internal product layout for best mechanical and thermal performance.Qualify vendors and manage vendors through the part RFQ process.Validate engineering samples.Work with Production, Supply Chain and Quality teams to ensure smooth implementation of designs in production, continuous improvement and post-release support of products.Participate in Project Management activities: write requirements and specifications documents, parts and subsystems validation protocols, work with the Project Manager to define the scope of work, decompose and create estimations for tasks and deliverables.Assign tasks and evaluate the work of junior members of the mechanical team.Qualifications / Requirements10+ years of experience designing consumer electronics and/or power electronics products.Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design or an equivalent.Knowledge of advanced SolidWorks Pro/Premium features (Cable routing, Wire harness design, Static analysis, Tolerance Stack-up Analysis) would be a strong asset.DFMA (Design for Manufacture and Assembly) guru.Experience in thermal / heat transfer analysis through FEA and experimentation.Methodological approach to work.You can define and build prototypes, plan experiments and analyze results to resolve ambiguities.You produce quality, readable drawings for production and quality control.Strong understanding of GD&T principles.Experience working with parts made of different materials, fabricated by different techniques and possibly from different suppliers.Experience working with external suppliers (local and overseas) is a strong asset.You understand the behavior of different materials and practical limitations of fabrication techniques (sheet metal, casting, extrusion, injection molding, CNC) and optimize designs accordingly.Experience supervising junior team members or leading a small team would be an asset.Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Understanding of the product development process and project management techniques is a strong asset.Candidates who are interested in working in a dynamic environment that supports autonomy, creativity, and excellence are invited to apply in confidence.As part of the Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act (the "Act"), Paradigm Electronics Inc. will not employ any children under the age of 15, by taking special precautions to safeguard the health, security, and rights of persons under the age of 18 and ensure that they do not perform any hazardous work.
