We work with a robust stakeholder feedback loop and consistent processes to provide responsive, fair, and professional service with empathy and efficiency.What You Will Create An ImpactThe Major Loss Adjuster for Casualty handles complex commercial casualty claims including class actions, large property damage claims, product liability recall claims, and other general liability claims. You will operate within operational/Best Practices guidelines to determine coverage, draft reservation of rights and denial letters, attend mediations and settlement conferences, and instruct independent adjusters and attorneys in negotiation and settlement. Claims are primarily in Canadian venues, with a small portion in the US and worldwide exposures.ResponsibilitiesReview casualty claims in conjunction with policy wordings to determine coveragePrepare disclaimer and/or reservation of rights letters and communicate with underwriters, brokers and insureds as applicableProvide instruction to legal counsel to bring about appropriate resolution of claimsEnsure compliance by legal counsel with litigation guidelinesParticipate in mediation/ADR to resolve claimsNegotiate settlements directly where possibleIssue payments within appropriate time framesOperate within best practices guidelines, including timely reserve reviews, notes, and payment requestsInform management of complaints, large losses, coverage issues, etc.What We're Looking ForMinimum 10 years handling commercial casualty claimsCollege/University or equivalent industry experienceAbility to make decisions and provide direction to adjusters and/or counselStrong learning ability with excellent communication and negotiating skillsExcellent interpersonal skillsProficient computer skills to navigate a paperless claim file systemTravel: Approximately 10% to attend mediations/ADRReady to take your career to the next level?
