The Role This is a full-time, hybrid position based out of Grande Prairie, Alberta, with regular travel to client sites throughout the region. As a Systems Integrator (Intermediate | Senior Level), you will be responsible for designing, configuring, programming, and commissioning automation systems used in oil and gas process operations. This role is ideal for experienced professionals with strong field integration experience across RTU, PLC, and DCS platforms — individuals who can work independently in the field while collaborating with a multidisciplinary integration team. Key Responsibilities Design, configure, and commission RTU, PLC, and DCS control systems for oil and gas production, compression, and processing facilities. Configure, program, and maintain RTUs, including SCADAPack, ROC/FloBoss, and ABB TotalFlow devices. Program and integrate PLCs such as Allen‑Bradley CompactLogix/ControlLogix, Siemens S7, or Schneider Modicon. Configure, program, and maintain DCS platforms such as Emerson DeltaV, Rockwell PlantPAx, ABB 800xA, or Honeywell Experion. Develop, deploy, and maintain SCADA systems using VTScada, Ignition, or Geo SCADA (ClearSCADA). Perform site commissioning, troubleshooting, and loop testing for control and instrumentation systems. Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure reliable, standards‑compliant automation solutions. Create and maintain control documentation, including I/O lists, narratives, and configuration records. Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior technologists and engineers. Must-Have Qualifications To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following requirements: Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Residency, legally eligible to work in Canada. Instrumentation or Electrical Journeyman Certificate with Interprovincial Red Seal Certification, or a Diploma in Instrumentation & Control or Electrical Engineering Technology. 5 to 8+ years of experience in oil and gas automation, process control, or SCADA integration. Proven field experience configuring and maintaining: RTUs: SCADAPack, ROC/FloBoss, ABB TotalFlow PLCs: Allen‑Bradley CompactLogix/ControlLogix, Siemens, or equivalent DCS Systems: Emerson DeltaV, Rockwell PlantPAx, ABB 800xA, Honeywell Experion Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, OPC UA, MQTT). Hands‑on experience with instrumentation calibration, loop checking, and P&ID interpretation. Ability to read and interpret electrical and control drawings, including wiring schematics. Willingness and ability to travel frequently to client sites throughout Alberta and Western Canada. Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills. Preferred Qualifications These are not required but will make your application stand out: Experience working in wellsite, pipeline, compression, or gas plant facilities. Proficiency with HMI configuration, dashboard design, and historian integration. Familiarity with wireless telemetry, radio networks (900 MHz/2.4 GHz), or cellular SCADA systems. Understanding of network security, VPN configuration, and remote connectivity. Knowledge of ISA‑88/ISA‑95, IEC 61131, API, or CSA automation standards. Leadership experience in mentoring or supervising technical staff. Strong technical writing and reporting skills (FAT/SAT documentation, commissioning reports). A commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork in all phases of project execution. Eligibility & Location Position based in Grande Prairie, Alberta (or Surrounding Area), with hybrid flexibility. Frequent travel to client sites across Alberta and Western Canada is required. Preference given to local or interprovincially certified candidates. Candidates must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
