Avondale executes financial transactions that use capital as a tool for meaningful positive impact, focusing on: Sustainable finance (diversified industries) Energy transition finance Energy infrastructure Carbon markets Role Description We are looking for a Property & Casualty Commercial Specialty Programs Director to help manage the firm's growth in our wholly‑owned insurance entities (managing general agent and / or insurance wholesaler). This is a six to twelve month contract (extendable or convertible into a full‑time role). Key Responsibilities Runs day‑to‑day operations of assigned specialty programs Coordinates underwriting, pricing, and loss control activities Develops new programs and improves existing insurance programs Implements program guidelines and ensures compliance Drives broker relationships and distribution strategy Drives carrier & reinsurance relationships and capital formation Monitors performance metrics and prepares reports Drives the business forward Support and lead special projects as needed Qualifications Undergraduate degree + 10-15+ years of relevant professional experience at either (i) an insurance company, reinsurance company, brokerage, actuarial firm or (ii) a specialty financial services firm, law firm, accounting firm or similar with a focus on the insurance industry Nice to have, but not required: experience operating in a professional context in both Canada and the United States Targeted Capabilities Demonstrated professional capabilities in operations and business management in a professional setting Focus on process and governance Driven to constantly improve Efficiency focused Comfortable operating around a fast‑paced transaction‑driven environment Demonstrated curiosity in developing solutions to unsolved problems Working Arrangements This is an in‑person role. We have offices in major cities in Canada and the United States.
