Overview Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest. Identity Engineering owns the systems responsible for onboarding all consumers and managing their authentication and verification journeys across Affirm’s product surfaces. We are looking for a highly motivated manager to help build this team. The manager will guide the team through technical challenges, drive process improvements, and contribute to strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing customer conversion. This engineering leader position requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to own and deliver high-availability, low-latency systems on the critical paths for all of our products. What you’ll do Build teams: Lead a high performance identity engineering team with a culture of innovation, accountability, empathy and execution Collaborate: Work closely with peers across the organization on projects that turn opportunity into results Influence technical strategy: Collaborate with engineering and analytics teams to deliver a long-term technical roadmap that meets stakeholder and business needs Raise the bar: Maintain a high technical bar while improving quality standards and development processes Grow others: Coach and mentor team members, providing timely feedback and creating an environment for engineers to grow What we look for Experience: 7+ years of software engineering experience with 2+ years in engineering leadership Technical skills: Experience architecting, building, launching and maintaining backend systems Technical leadership: Experience leading technical projects and mentoring engineers, driving cross-functional collaboration Team player: Community builder with strong collaboration and mentoring desire Communication: Ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders Education: Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field Compensation and Benefits Base pay ranges from $178,000 to $228,000 per year. Pay grade: P; Equity grade: 7. Affirm offers a transparent pay structure and a total compensation package that may include stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental and vision for you and dependents). Eligible employees may receive equity rewards.
